The Interreg Alpine Space programme is the EU transnational cooperation programme for the Alps. For 2021-2027, the programme has a budget of € 107 million ERDF.

Partners from the seven Alpine countries work together to promote regional development in a sustainable way. We are supporting projects, which are developing transnational solutions for transnational challenges of the Alpine region as laid down in the programme objectives:

Priority 2: Carbon neutral and resource sensitive Alpine region

There’s a unique silence when you stand by an Alpine lake.

The cool water and surrounding peaks make the world feel still and quiet.

But beneath that calm surface lies a fragile ecosystem. The DiMark project, funded by Interreg Alpine Space, uses satellite data to monitor water quality and ensure our lakes remain safe, healthy, and resilient. These innovative solutions are currently being tested across six pilot sites which are some of the prettiest Alpine lakes.

Let's protect lakes today for a sustaining life tomorrow. 💙

This is not just a game. 🐿️

Wildlife protection is nothing to play about. Over 30,000 animals and 13,000 plant species in the Alps face the consequences of climate change and human activities every day. Protecting this rich ecosystem requires collective effort.

At Interreg Alpine Space, we foster transnational cooperation to research, develop, and implement concrete solutions for a resilient and green Alpine region.

Another week of our summer challenges! This week, discover 3 themes and various projects through the prism of games!

During the summer holidays, many people prefer heading to the mountains rather than the beach. However, we often have misconceptions about life in the mountains and may not be aware that the Alps are home to entire ecosystems that suffer from overtourism.

Thanks to sustainable tourism, we can find a balance between economic benefits, protection of the environment, and preservation of cultural heritage. Taking the example of LiveAlpsNature project showing us that the three are not incompatible. We can still enjoy our holidays while taking care of the biodiversity!
