Nearly twenty years after Ghana’s first imPACT Review mission, an international expert team led by the IAEA has highlighted the country’s strengths and opportunities to expand its cancer care services under the Agency’s initiative.

Assessing all areas of cancer control in Ghana, the review identified where targeted investments could deliver high-impact results, helping strengthen prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Treating diseases with more accuracy

For more accurate diagnosis and cancer treatment, theranostics - pairing a diagnostic test with targeted treatment in a single medical approach - is transforming how we manage diseases.

The new IAEA Coordinated Research Project on Advanced Theranostics Using Terbium Radioisotope Series (Tb Series) will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and technology transfer among Member States.

The project aims to deliver standardised production protocols, enhance technical expertise and strengthen international collaboration and sharing of best practices.

Sustainable agriculture made easier with modelling

To keep food safer, food irradiation uses different radiation techniques to keep our food fresh and safe to eat, helping stop food waste.

The IAEA, through the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre, has launched a new research project to support countries in using modelling tools to design safer and more efficient irradiation processes, ensuring the safe use of nuclear technologies for food security and safety.
