Happy birthday to Wayne today.
We miss you beyond words, and we will always mark this day to grieve, rest, and reflect - to be happy and sad, and sit in a swell of emotions… to honour Wayne.

You are so very loved. Please visit our dreams again, soon. Miss hanging out with you…

And, as it just so happened spontaneously too that today, Latoya signed off on their PhD and sent all forms in for conferral (as the PhD has passed). It’s odd how things happen sometimes… bitter-sweet. But how interesting, how significant and also unplanned, that today would just happen to be the date that this work completes in Wayne’s memory.

His contribution to significant political resistance in Australia, impactful even through end of life and post-death, has been immense, and this year (Sept 26) marks a decade that he’s been gone.

What an astonishing man, not only in life - but for the uplifting and resounding call of justice that continues to grow hope and strength in other peoples globally too.

Thank you Wayne. We love you, forever.

9 years ago today… counting time feels more difficult as the years go by. We miss you so much. We love you. Til we meet again… rest in peace Wayne.

It’s been a little while since we posted here. Next year will mark 10 years since Wayne was restrained by at least 14 Yatala correctional officers and died. Justice is still yet to be seen for our family and community. Yatala prison continues its human rights abuses, especially against other Indigenous people inside, as has been reported more recently. This must stop.

Our brother Wayne; a dad, fisherman, artist, the creative one. Today its been 7yrs since Wayne died in custody. For 7yrs we have kept Wayne’s name & story fresh in Australias mind; in the news, through our work, in creative ways. No peace for us w/o Justice. Remember this today. The work will always continue. We miss you & love you more than ever. X

The AFP have today banned spit hoods! This must now be legislated. Spit hoods must be banned nationally, for all people in all settings, and by law!

Members of the AFP put their lives at risk every day to protect the community. These members are fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, brothers and sisters.

Tomorrow it’ll be 6 years since we lost Wayne. We really thought the coroner would’ve respected our wishes of receiving the coronial inquest report by now, especially since it’s been a year since we were last sitting in court… But, we know better to never trust the state - they’re responsible at the end of the day. As we journey on, some days it feels easy and some days still so raw. I mostly just miss sharing quiet space with Wayne these days… just seeing his face and knowing he’s around, the day to day stuff. We will continue to remember him with the respect he deserves, as a peaceful and humble man. Thank you to you all for your many years of support, love and hope. Big love to you all x
