Adelaide Greens

Adelaide Greens We are the Adelaide Branch of the South Australian Greens, based on the federal division of Adelaide. New members always welcome. Limit Links.

The Greens are the only party to be powered from the bottom-up, engaging members and supporters every step of the way. We have the courage to stand with you to create a more caring society. Over the course of the last four decades, the Greens have become the third force in Australian politics. Across Australia there are currently Greens representing you at every level of government: not only nine

Greens Senators and one MP in the Federal Parliament, but also 21 Greens Members in State Parliaments and more than 100 Greens councillors (including several Mayors and Deputy Mayors) working in local communities. Together, we have delivered results — like Denticare and the Clean Energy Act. PAGE COMMENTS POLICY:

The core principles of the Australian Greens (SA) include non-violence and participatory democracy. We welcome all kinds of comments and thoughts; supportive, dissenting, critical or otherwise, as long as they are made in the spirit of constructive and civilised dialogue. Violent language on the other hand is not welcome here.

Great to see Adelaide Branch member Keiran Snape hitting the ground running at the City of Adelaide.

Former APA committee member Keiran Snape is settling down after his first few weeks as a new Adelaide City Councillor. He’s spoken to APA’s Carla Caruso about some uphill battles he’s faced already and how he’ll keep fighting for your Open, Green, Public Adelaide Park Lands.

Last week I met with Shane Sody of the Adelaide Park Lands Association to discuss the future of Helen Mayo Park on the Park Lands. The State Government have earmarked the site for their ‘Riverbank Arena.’

The proposal threatens to further erode the Park Lands and compromise the site’s national heritage listing. Surely another location could be found?

Today, I’ll be moving for the Legislative Council to oppose the plan and protect our open green space.

Join me at this snap rally to show your concern about AUKUS and all it implies for Australia’s foreign policy and embedding us into the international nuclear cycle.

A subs contract is not an industry or jobs policy.

Wear your Greens shirts and please share!💚💚

Come along and support branch member Keiran Snape with his first ever motion, on the topic of climate action!

My first motion, Climate Action!

Hi folks, at the end of this year the City of Adelaide's Carbon Neutral Action Plan runs out and as things stand we don't have any plans to continue action against climate change going into 2022.

As such I thought it would be appropriate at my first official meeting to rectify this.

We'll have public deputations in support from Mark Parnell (former MLC) and Tom Webster a local student strike leader.

I'd love you to come along and show support.

If you can make it please contact council to register (for covid purposes) by emailing

On this day 20 years ago, so much tragedy.

I was up early in the dark, leaving the kids then 11 & 8, to take a com car to the airport and fly to Sydney. The driver and I heard the news in disbelief as we drove.

It was a strange, silent, nervous flight.

I was working for Senator Natasha Stott Despoja, advising on work, and on women.

I spent the day in the NSW Commonwealth offices.

I had the job of composing a letter of condolence to the US Ambassador on Nat’s behalf. I could not find the words - amidst so many tears.

Since then 150,000 Afghans have been killed.

41 Australian soldiers have died, 260 have been wounded and an horrific 500 have taken their own lives on return.

The US has spent $2.3 trillion, with 2,400 deaths of military personnel and over 50,000 wounded.

These numbers are so impossible to believe or comprehend.

All in the name of ill-considered revenge.

We have to - at the very least - learn the lessons.

I flew back that night to be with the kids. 💔

City of Adelaide's newest Councillor, Greens member Keiran Snape, is still working at his regular hospitality job. He states it's important that our elected spaces have genuine worker representation.

Well it's been an exciting week getting sworn into council but hospitality still pays the bills, so off to work I go.

No courage. No empathy. No moral obligation.

Morrison’s had months to plan these evacuations. There are lives on the line, and the people of Afghanistan can’t afford these failings.

We must follow the UK & Canada by taking an additional 20,000 Afghan refugees fleeing the Taliban, and guarantee permanent protection for those already here.

It’s the least we can do.
