Candles may be cozy, but don’t underestimate their danger 🕯️🔥

Never leave candles unsupervised and keep them at least 2 metres away from things that can catch on fire such as curtains, bedding, and clothing.

And remember to store matches and lighters out of children’s reach 👶🚫

New laws mean tougher penalties for serious building industry breaches.

These changes help protect consumers by targeting issues such as unlicensed work, misleading advertising and failing to meet important legal requirements.

If you’re engaging a builder, plumber, gas fitter or electrician, make sure they’re properly licensed and understand your rights as a consumer.

Together, we can help create a safer, fairer building industry.

Consumer and Business Services welcomes reports of unlicensed trades work for our investigation.
Maintaining awareness of where bitumen crews popped up can also keep fellow South Australians ahead of any scam.

Be vigilant of scammers in the local area!

Renmark Paringa Council has been made aware of a group visiting our region, claiming to do bitumen sealing works.

Unfortunately, their quality and workmanship are extremely poor, which can be seen in the below photo.
The phone numbers of the scammers reported are 0416005364 and 0403045311.

If you come across them, please contact Consumer Business Services on 13 18 82.

Thank you.

Rogue operators trading as locksmiths are targeting Australians with slick websites and low upfront quotes, only to hit customers with inflated bills later.

Protect yourself against scammers:
🔐 Check the website – does it have an "about us" and show where the business is located?
🔐 Get a detailed quote upfront, including call-out fees, after-hours charges and additional costs
🔐Make sure you get an invoice so CBS can help you if something goes wrong.
