Thorndon Park

Thorndon Park is a large public park located in Paradise bounded by residential development, landscaped buffers, Gorge Road and Hamilton Terrace.

The park is owned by the State Government and is under the care, control and management of Campbelltown City Council (SA). Thorndon Park features a large, shaded junior/toddler playground, a liberty disabled swing, multiple barbeques and picnic settings, a rotunda and large sheltered pavilion. Walking trails take you throughout this picturesque location and past unique attractions like the lake a

nd natural wetlands. A small heritage museum is now open each weekend adjacent to the kiosk. Both the kiosk and museum are proudly operated by the Rotary Club of Morialta. Thorndon Park is open to the general public at all hours. Please note, however, that the car park is locked between the hours of sunset and sunrise each day. Please note, DOGS ARE PROHIBITED in the park at all times.

⚠️ Temporary closure of accessible toilets at Thorndon Park

The accessible toilets at Thorndon Park have been temporarily closed due to vandalism and will remain unavailable until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

On Friday 26 June 2026, Department of Primary Industries and Regions will be undertaking an inspection at Thorndon Park as part of its proactive surveillance program (weather permitting). As part of this work, scent-trained detector dogs will move through the park as a precautionary measure to support early detection of Giant Pine Scale.

Thorndon Park has been identified as a priority site due to its large pine trees and the significant community value of the reserve. This surveillance is precautionary, and there have been no reports of Giant Pine Scale at the park.

The work will involve two trained handlers and two detector dogs moving through the park’s pine tree areas. The dogs will remain on leash at all times, handlers will wear high-visibility clothing, and all waste will be collected.

A friendly reminder that dogs are not permitted in Thorndon Park at any time. However, Council has granted permission for the dogs to be in Thorndon Park for this purpose.

The Thorndon Park kiosk is currently closed for renovations as we work on expanding the space and installing new equipment to improve safety, efficiency, and service.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from 6:30 pm, with a screening of IF (PG) commencing at sundown (approx 7:45 pm).

Come along to the Rotary Club of Campbelltown's 6th annual classic car show, 'Classics on the Park' at Thorndon Park.

The show is an extremely popular event for families, classic car owners, enthusiasts and the general public.
