The backbone of sport ๐Ÿงก
ย
Volunteers play a vital role in every sporting community, helping create opportunities for athletes, clubs and events to thrive. We caught up with Softball SA and Swimming SA to hear about the impact volunteers have across their sports, and how volunteering provides a flexible way to stay connected and give back without a major time commitment.
ย
From recognising long-time contributors to finding ways to attract younger volunteers and bring the average age down, both organisations are focused on building a strong future for sport in South Australia ๐Ÿ™Œ

The Heart of the Community Sport Volunteer Expo connected high school, tertiary and international students with sporting organisations from across South Australia, showcasing the many pathways available through volunteering.

The event brought together volunteers, sporting organisations and students for a day of connection, recognition and learning. It was a great opportunity for students to hear firsthand about the many pathways available through volunteering in sport and recreation, while also recognising the volunteers who keep sport thriving across South Australia ๐Ÿ™Œ

A special initiative in the APY Lands ๐Ÿงก
ย
Over five days, our staff members Jodie and Verity delivered kits to all 13 softball teams in the SANFL Softball League across the APY Lands, including t-shirts, hats, drink bottles, period underwear and period products. The project, led through the Women in Sport Taskforce Inclusive Uniform Program, aims to help keep athletes active and participating week in, week out ๐ŸฅŽ
ย
The trip also marked the final year of a three-year program delivering equipment and support into the APY Lands community.ย
ย
A huge thank you to Drakes for their support in helping source products for the project ๐Ÿ‘

The theme for 2026 is 'All In' - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey.
