Animal Justice Party South Australia

Animal Justice Party South Australia Animal Justice Party South Australia. The only political party dedicated to ending animal cruelty. That’s where we come in.

Animal cruelty is an unfortunate and all-too-common feature of Australian society that must come to an end. Several non-government organisations have been tackling animal welfare issues at ground level from various perspectives to-date, however there’s an immediate urgency to bring much-needed influence to this agenda from a government policy dimension. The Animal Justice Party has been establishe

d to give voice to those who have none – to pursue the vital issues of animal protection through the Australian Parliamentary System by:

• Encouraging the adoption of animal-friendly policies by other political parties
• Demonstrating that voters care about animal issues by contesting elections
• Educating the electorate about the animal policies of candidates from other political parties. What we aim to do:

• The Animal Justice Party will actively campaign at a government policy level against animal cruelty atrocities relating to wildlife destruction; factory farming; animal transportation; companion and domestic animals, pet animals and the use of animals for sport and entertainment.
• We’ll advocate the toughening of animal protection laws; an increase in penalties for convicted animal abusers; the regulation and restriction in the sale and use of pets, and enhance education in greater awareness and appreciation of the needs of animals. We believe that through the formation of the Animal Justice Party, and with the support of the many like-minded, concerned animal lovers (and voters) throughout Australia, real and urgent changes to the way in which animals are treated can be made. Rodeos are underway in WA, with events in Broome and Roebourne this month - and we’re aware of rodeo events scheduled here in SA too.

A timely reminder that “family-friendly” shouldn’t mean animal suffering - roping and bucking events cause real fear and distress to sentient animals. Thank you to Amanda Dorn - Animal Justice Party MP in WA for advocating on this issue.

Greyhounds can't speak up. But we can. And the time is now.

Contact your local MP urgently and ask them to support a managed phase-out of greyhound racing in SA.

The animal cruelty case is scheduled to return to Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 4 August - join fellow animal advocates for a second peaceful court demo.

While this demo is not arranged by us, some AJP members were proud to stand alongside others at the first hearing. A strong turnout helps keep media attention on the case and sends a clear message: our community expects accountability and stronger protections for farmed animals.

📅 Tuesday, 4 August
🕘 9:15am (subject to court listing the previous afternoon)
📍 Elizabeth Magistrates Court

Smart attire suitable for court is requested. Corflutes and brochures will be provided.

We are excited for our next Greater Adelaide Regional Group meeting, on Sunday July 26 at 10am.

We are also grateful to host two guest speakers from Safe Pets Safe Families: founder Jennifer Howard & Dr Jess Scrivener.

Research shows that victims of domestic violence are more likely to delay leaving an abusive relationship if they own a pet. Recognising the lack of pet-friendly refuge facilities for these victims, Safe Pets Safe Families was born.

Bird flu affects more than just birds: 13,000 baby seals have died on Australia's Heard Island from bird flu. We need to build a more resilient South Australian ecosystem to defend against disease outbreaks before they start.

Our friends in Aotearoa New Zealand have pointed out the connection between recreational duck hunting with biosecurity. It's a reminder of how connected human actions with environmental health really are.

Scientists say 13,000 southern elephant seal pups on Heard Island have died of the H5N1 strain.
