Would you notice the signs of elder abuse? 💜

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the mistreatment and neglect of older people, while encouraging our community to recognise the signs of elder abuse and support their rights and wellbeing.

There are simple ways we can all help reduce the risk of elder abuse:
1️⃣ Stay connected with family, friends, neighbours and community groups.
2️⃣ Learn more about the rights of older people.
3️⃣ Encourage older people to access support services when needed.
4️⃣ Check in on older people in your life and make sure their financial and legal affairs are in order.

If you or someone you know needs advice or support, help is available:

📞 Adult Safeguarding Unit: 1800 327 310

Keen to learn how to recycle better, reduce food waste and get the most out of your 3 bins? ♻️

To help residents and businesses get the most out of our waste and recycling services, we've adopted a new Waste Education Plan 2026-2030. The plan outlines how we'll help the community better understand waste and recycling through education, resources and workshops.

One example is our upcoming free food waste workshop with Foodbank SA & Central Australia where you'll learn how to reduce food waste, save money and better understand food storage and expiry dates.

Did you know our street sweeping program changes with the seasons? 🍂

As leaf fall increases, particularly in areas with deciduous trees, we adjust our sweeping schedule to help keep streets, footpaths and gutters clear.

You may spot sweepers, footpath machines and staff working together to collect leaves and debris.
