π WOLRD DROWNING PREVENTION DAY 2026 π
Drowning is an issue that affects every nation of the world. Globally, more than 300,000 people lose their lives to drowning every year. Drowning predominately impacts children and young people, and in Australia, hundreds of families lose loved ones to drowning every year.
Because drowning predominantly impacts children and young people, At BlueFit we are taking this opportunity to remind families of our supervision policies, which are in place to help keep our community safe in and around the water.
What you need to know:
πΆ Children aged 0β5 and all non swimmers: Must be within armβs reach of a parent or guardian at all times. This means the adult must be actively in the water with the child.
π§ββοΈ Children aged 6β10: Must be closely and actively supervised. Maintain constant visual contact and be ready to enter the water.
βοΈ Minimise distractions: Put away mobile phones, avoid lengthy conversations, and stay clear of any distractions that can cause a fatal lapse in attention.
Every small step we individually take can help save lives.
π You can also join the global movement to promote water safety by Going Blue! On the 25th of July, we encourage our community to show their support by wearing blue to the pool, whether it is a blue swimsuit, blue swim cap, or simply bringing a blue towel.
