A round of applause for three of our own, recognised on this year’s King’s Birthday Honours List.

- Station Officer Justin Francis
- Inspector Daren Mallouk
- Captain Stephen Malone

Their dedication, expertise and leadership have earned them an Australian Fire Service Medal.

Justin Francis is the station officer at Cannon Hill Fire Station and has demonstrated his commitment to firefighting safety, high-rise firefighting capability and community protection in the built environment across three decades of service.

Daren Mallouk is an expert in fire origin and cause determination, contributing to more than 150 complex investigations. He is the manager of the State Fire Investigation Unit.

Stephen Malone is the captain of Julia Creek Fire and Rescue Station, a RFSQ firefighter and SES volunteer. He is dedicated to community safety, multi-agency collaboration and operational preparedness.

If you are applying for a Permit to Light Fire it is important to notify your adjoining neighbours.

This should be done in enough time for them to:
