Aldinga Beach Children's Centre

Aldinga Beach Children's Centre " A high performing system that improves the educational attainment and wellbeing of South Australia’s children and young people"

The Aldinga Children's Centre is an initiative of the Department of Education and Child Development. Aldinga Children's Centre is scheduled to be built in 2013, currently there are two staff employed Lauren Jew the Community Development Coordinator and Leigh Stone the Administration Officer. The Aldinga Children's Centre will be situated at the back of the Aldinga Primary School, on the corner of

Evans St and Greenlees Parade, until then Lauren is working from the library at the Aldinga Primary School. The Aldinga Children's Centre will be a space for children from birth to eight and their families. There will be a kindergarten on site, an occasional care and multiple placements for children with multiple disabilities. A Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and a Nurse will be available to provide a range of services such infomation, assessments, referrals and support. It is critical that the services offered within the Centre match the needs of the community. We are very interested to hear what community members and workers believe could be provided to further support families in the region. Although we are based in Aldinga the Children's Centre is far greater reaching, children and families from any area are welcome to access the Centre. The purpose of this page is for:
- Events in and around Aldinga to be promoted
- Information sharing
- Progress updates on the building of the Aldinga Children's Centre
- A space for discussions, thoughts and ideas. We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will find this page useful. "We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land the Kaurna people and pay our respects to the Elders both past, present and future. We are lucky to share such a beautiful place".

Last Wednesday 20th May we celebrated World Bee Day and were lucky enough to have a visit from Jill and her buzzy bee 🐝 from Doo Bee Honey.
The children were so excited to learn all about how bees work and why they are so important to our world.
The children got to taste honey, explore a bee hive and discover how bees settle down to sleep. They also got to try on a bee keeper suit. And ask lots of questions.
A very big thank you to Jill, Emma and Rory 🙏🐝
Don’t forget to check Doo Bee Honey out at the Willunga Farmers Markets 🐝🐝🐝

This week in kindy we celebrated a mini sport day.
From parent feedback last term about our ‘Stay & Plays’ a family asked if we could do a stay and play that included gross motor activities. We value family feedback, so took this on board and organised a fun sports day ‘Stay & Play’.
This term we have been learning about fundamental movement skills. We have been working on throwing and catching and 2 feet jumping with motor bike landings. Children were excited to show their families what they have been learning.
What a turn out thank you to all our families for coming along and making it so special.

To our amazing community, we have some special news…

Aldinga Beach Children’s Centre will become an ‘integrated hub’ from term 1, 2028.

This means our centre will evolve to bring more programs and services together so our local community can access the support they need in one place.

As an integrated hub, the preschool hours will change from 15 hours per week to 30 hours a week for 3 and 4 year old children. Children will be considered through a priority of access process.

This is a big and exciting change and we look forward to working with our local community to bring this to life.

For more information on integrated hubs and preschool for 3 year olds, visit the Office for Early Childhood Development website.

😊🙌
