Alexandra, R U coming to the movies?

Movies, Meals and Meaningful Connections will be at Alexandra Shire Hall, 55 Grant Street this Friday 4 September.

Enjoy a free BBQ, practical wellbeing tips from a local mental health professional and screenings of Sketch and Tinā.

Inspired by the message of R U OK?, these events encourage meaningful conversations and remind us that support often begins with a simple check-in.

We encourage guests to arrive early for a meal and a chat, then stay afterwards for supper and conversation. Often, it is those informal discussions that become the most memorable part of the evening.

Content information: Sketch (PG) contains mild themes and fantasy violence. Parental guidance is recommended.
Tinā (M) contains mature themes including grief, loss and references to suicide.

For more information and to register, visit www.murrindindi.vic.gov.au/ruokmovies26

This event is supported by a Look Over the Farm Gate grant provided by Agriculture Victoria under the Victorian Government's 2025 Drought Support Package. See less

ARE YOU HOME EDUCATING YOUR CHILDREN?

We want to make sure every child and family has the opportunity to help shape Council projects that affect them.

Murrindindi Shire Council has secured VicHealth funding for projects that support a healthy, connected and engaged community.

We would love to hear from you if you home educate your children, or if you are part of a home education group, network or community.

We are creating a contact list of local home-educating families and groups so we can share relevant information and opportunities to have your say on projects that affect children, young people and families in our community.

If you would like to be included, please contact Council using the details below and provide the following information:

🔸Your name
🔸Your email address
🔸The ages of your child/children
🔸The name of your home education group or network, if applicable
🔸Your suburb, town or general area within Murrindindi Shire

Providing these details will help us ensure we can share information and opportunities that are relevant to your family and your children’s age group.

For more information or to be added to our contact list, please contact Council on 03 5772 0333 or email [email protected]

Fire season inspections will commence in October across Murrindindi

As we head into the warmer months, Council's Fire Prevention Officers will begin inspecting properties across the Shire to help identify fire hazards that may pose a risk to people, homes and the environment.

Council has a responsibility under legislation to help reduce the risk of fire starting and spreading on land within our municipality. This includes working with landowners to identify and address potential fire hazards.

In many cases, officers will provide information and guidance to support property owners in reducing risk. Where necessary, Fire Prevention Notices may be issued requiring works to be completed.

We understand that conversations about fire preparedness can be difficult for some members of our community. The aim of these inspections is not to catch people out. It is to help identify and address risks that could threaten people, homes and the environment.

Together, we can help create more prepared and resilient communities.
