Many Firefighters are committed to effecting change through pay deductions to support the Kids Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

A further extension of this is the Fire and Rescue NSW 400in4 Charity Ride where firefighters cycle 400km's over 4 days and visit schools and communities along the way to deliver key fire safety learnings designed to keep children safe.

Now in its 19th year, the 400in4 Charity Ride is hoping to surpass the $1,000,000 mark for total funds donated to the Burns Unit.

COVID has put a dampener on this years event and has moved to a virtual event.

We ask for your support by donating to our riders and their efforts to provide funds to the Burns Unit which in turn delivers better patient outcomes through research into Burns Treatment, Minimisation of Scarring and Mental Health to aid and assist in the recovery process.

Fundraising for the Burns Unit at The Childrens Hospital Westmead

Almost 3,000 firefighters donate a small amount from their pay each fortnight to the Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

This enables the Burns Unit to receive around $90,000 per year from this workplace giving initiative, and it all goes direct to the Burns Unit.

Today we got to meet the newest of recruits for Fire and Rescue NSW.

Recruit Class 4/2020 is a special class as it comprises recruits who have already been serving their communities and fighting fires in an "on-call" capacity, some for many years. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Was also good to see some familiar names in the class.

Congratulations to all of you and thank you for your ongoing contribution to the Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead .

Crew from Redfern Fire Station check the roof void for fire extension on Christmas morning in Redfern.

Great job by Alexandria to keep the fire mostly to room of origin. Ably assisted by City of Sydney crews especially the Runner. A special shout out to Firefighter Leane who attended this job on his very first shift after graduating from the Fire and Rescue NSW Emergency Services Academy.

Alexandria Fire Station called to a spill at Port Botany early this morning.

Crews will remain on scene for some time assisting in rendering safe.

Alexandria Fire Station responded to a fire with Redfern and City of Sydney Fire stations earlier this morning.

The fire was soon upgraded to a 3rd Alarm Structure Fire requiring the attendance of more fire trucks and firefighters.

Kudos to Good Samaritans Ibrahim and Scott who helped someone in the most dire of circumstances. Incapacitated by injury with extreme heat and smoke surrounding him, the casualty managed to yell for help, with the rescuers coming to his aid. 🙌❤
