Councillor Diana Grima

Councillor Diana Grima Hobsons Bay City Council Mayor Who is Diana Grima? Many of you already know Diana. Diana is an active supporter of local sporting and social groups.

She is not a bureaucrat, but a local that has grown up in our community as a committed activist and worker who is ambitious to get more done for us by being elected to Council with your help. Diana’s dad is former Councillor and Deputy Mayor, John Hogg who she has taken inspiration from but Diana is very much her own person who has achieved a lot on her own. Such as joining with the Laverton Trad

ers to stop the closure of Aircraft station and lobbying the State government for an upgraded crossing in Aviation road when it was learned that 1.2 k freight trains heading from the west to the new Railfreight interchange being built on Burns road would create massive delays. Diana also lobbied to solve the flooding problem under the rail overpass off Merton street not just because it was inconvenient but downright dangerous having already claimed the life of a motorcyclist. Melbourne Water later allocated $3m to create 3 mini dams and under road drainage. This largely solved the problem while allowing the water being stored to be used to water local sporting grounds This is a great conservation story. Diana wants Wetlands Ward to emerge from its history of being Hobson's Bay poor relation and its residents to be treated fairly with equality. Diana believes that Epsom street reserve and Comben reserve are prime candidates for development with full
consultation. Funding questions in relation to Comben reserve have not been fully disclosed yet. Diana has played women's football, joined Friends of Skeleton Creek for tree planting, worked in child care including remedial reading for young students, helped the Laverton Choir and traders to stage festivals. Diana is serving as secretary of the Laverton Community Association and president of Neighbourhood Watch.
