When using your fireplace in winter, it’s important to be fire safe 🔥
✅Always use a fire screen in front of an open fire.
✅Keep items that can burn, such as clothes, at least 1m away.
✅Extinguish open fires before leaving home or going to sleep.
✅Always supervise children near open fires.
✅Ensure ashes are cold before discarding.
✅Only burn dry, clean wood.

Have just been advised - That the Fire Danger Period for City of Greater Geelong will be lifted on the 13th of April 2026. Fire Restrictions will remain in Force until then.

Please still be vigilant in all areas, as fire will still burn with some intensity, as some areas are still dry.

The Anakie Brigade members thank the Anakie Community for being vigilant this summer, we have dodged another bullet for the area with fires this year.

Tomorrow, Wed, 11 Feb 2026 has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, Central (includes Melbourne and Geelong), North East and West and South Gippsland district(s) of Victoria.
