For the first time in six years, Angaston CFS tested our Fire Siren at training last night. The initiative to re-utilise our siren was a long time coming, involving community consultation and feedback. Moving forward, the siren will be tested every Wednesday night at 7:30pm. It is so good to hear that sound again 🤩

You are invited to attend a community consultation and provide feedback regarding the station siren at Angaston CFS.

We are proposing to use our station siren to warn the community of emergency incidents in the Angaston/Penrice area.

** This would involve a weekly siren test on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm to ensure the siren is working correctly.

** The siren would be used to notify the community of emergencies that may require you to enact your bushfire survival plan. It will also help notify our members of the incident so they can respond.

** The siren is not a replacement for other sources of emergency information such as battery powered radio and the AlertSA app, but another tool to ensure the community is aware of an emergency that may impact them.

** The siren will not be used to warn of Total Fire Ban days.

You are invited to our Community Consultation Session which will be held from 7pm - 8pm, Wednesday July 1st at the Angaston CFS Station, 12-14 Neldner Avenue, Angaston.

If you are not able to attend in person, please submit your feedback via email to:
[email protected]

Please use the subject line "siren" so we can categorise your feedback.

Hi everyone!
As we reach the last day of Fire Danger Season in the Mount Lofty Ranges District, we want to take this opportunity to give a quick reminder that just because the season is over, it does not mean the danger of fire no longer exists.

Every year, the CFS sees a noticeable increase in calls right after the end of the Fire Danger Season - just because you're legally allowed to burn, it doesn't always mean that it's a good idea. We should always take the conditions into consideration, regardless of how long it might be until the next Fire Danger Season.

Remember to ensure you have at least 4m of clear space around any burns, and plenty of water immediately on-hand to extinguish. Don't let yourself get complacent, and be sure to keep an eye on your burns so that you can act quickly if necessary.

Finally, for those within a township, you may not be aware that there are additional rules on what you can burn and when. You can find more information on the Barossa Council website.

This is a timely reminder that even though we are officially into Autumn according to the calendar, the fire conditions can still potentially be significant.

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Tuesday 31 March 2026 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions
