Interagency Training 22/7/26

NSW SES Armidale Unit invited us to their station so we could learn patient extrication and handling at a motor vehicle accident.

After the cars were stabilised, our members were given the opportunity to use the rescue tools such as the cutters and spreaders. They were then guided through the process on moving the patient from the vehicle and carrying them to safety.

Thankyou very much Armidale SES for inviting us over to experience what your members do. It was a great night!

Village Fire-fighter Course 19/7/26

Last weekend the New England District hosted a Village Fire-fighter course. This course teaches members how to approach and and deal with fires and incidents involving structures and vehicles.

Over the weekend, members practiced breaching doors and gas cooling at a house fire and how to safely manage a car fire which has the potential for things to go BANG.(Video in comments)

Congratulations to all the new VF qualified members.

Interagency Training – Sunday 12th July 2026

On Sunday, Dumaresq Brigade attended the NSW Ambulance Station in Armidale.

After a tour of the station, we were shown through the vehicles pinpointing where the more commonly used items are so we can aid paramedics in the field. Members were then given the opportunity to unload and load the stretcher and secure a patient for transport.
Finally, patient handling using a combiboard and stretcher was practiced which turned into a time trial competition.

We'd like to thank NSW Ambulance for allowing us to tour their facilities and equipment and learn how we can help the most.

Pile burn assistance - Friday, 10 of July 2026

On Friday crews from Dumaresq Brigade assisted another property owner with four pile burns located outside of town boundaries.
It was a great day for members to hone their skills for the upcoming fire season.

This is a great reminder that while pile burns outside town boundaries don't require a permit, you must still notify the NSW Rural Fire Service and your neighbours before lighting up.

If you're planning to burn within town boundaries, approval from your local Council and Fire and Rescue NSW is required before any burning can take place.

If you're unsure of the requirements before lighting a fire, contact your local RFS brigade or district office for advice.

Wednesday evening and Thursday morning our crews responded to a structure fire near Rocky River.

We provided support to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 475 Uralla and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 205 Armidale, alongside Diggings Rural Fire Brigade, NSW Ambulance, NSW Police and Essential Energy.

Our crews worked seamlessly to provide water, while four of our Breathing Apparatus (BA) operators entered the structure to assist with extinguishing the blaze.

A sincere thank you to everyone involved for the rapid and well-coordinated response.
