🚨 SIREN TEST NOTICE – ARNO BAY CFS 🚨

Hey everyone,
Just a quick message to let the community know that the siren that sounded at 4:00pm today was only a test there is no emergency.
We do apologise for any confusion or concern this may have caused. Life has been a bit hectic lately and we missed updating our siren testing time when daylight savings ended that one’s on us!

πŸ‘‰ Moving forward:
Our regular siren test will return to 5:00pm on Fridays starting next week.

πŸ”΄ Important Reminder:
If there is ever an emergency impacting the township, the siren will sound as a continuous tone not just a short test blast.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support of our volunteers πŸ™Œ

πŸŽ„πŸš’ Christmas Eve Drive – Thank You Arno Bay! πŸš’πŸŽ„

What an incredible night our Christmas Eve Drive turned out to be, and it truly wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of our local community. ❀️

A huge thank you to Arno bay craft corner for spending the year lovingly making the goodie bags for our kids your time, effort, and dedication mean more than words can say. 🎁

We would also like to sincerely thank Silver Moon Automotive and the Hotel Arno Social Club for their generous donations, which helped make the night such a success and brought so many smiles to our community.

And of course, a massive thank you to the Arno Bay community for your ongoing support of our Arno Bay CFS Brigade β€” whether it’s a wave from the driveway, kind words, donations, or encouragement throughout the year. We truly couldn’t do what we do without you. πŸš’β€οΈ

From all of us at Arno Bay CFS, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for another year of community spirit, support, and togetherness. πŸŽ„βœ¨

We are deeply saddened to see this very sad news

Our thoughts, love, and heartfelt condolences go out to their family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
We stand with them in grief, and we honour the service, dedication, and courage shown in their time.

The CFS is more than a team it is a family.

Sincere condolences Arno Bay CFS

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of CFS firefighter Peter Curtis on Sunday afternoon while undertaking remote firefighting on the Eyre Peninsula.

At the time of his passing, Peter was part of a National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) brigade strike team deployed to assist with a scrub fire in Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, west of Kimba. This was part of a coordinated effort to protect the park and surrounding communities under challenging conditions.

Peter dedicated his life to protecting South Australia’s landscapes and communities. Beginning his firefighting career with ForestrySA in 1995, he transferred to NPWS in 2017, where he served in senior leadership roles including Strike Team Leader and Sector Commander. He was deeply respected for his skill, leadership, and generosity in mentoring others.

Above all, Peter was a caring and considerate person, loved by all who knew him. His loss will be felt profoundly across our organisations and the broader community.

The circumstances surrounding Peter’s passing are under investigation. We ask that everyone respect the privacy of his family and colleagues during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Peter’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters.

πŸ”₯ FIRE DANGER SEASON HAS STARTED – ARE YOU PREPARED? πŸ”₯

The Fire Danger Season officially started yesterday, and it’s time to make sure your home, family, and property are ready.

Even small steps can make a big difference when things heat up 🌑️πŸ”₯

Here are a few tips to help you get prepared:

βœ… Clean up around your home – remove leaves, twigs, and dry grass from around buildings and gutters.
βœ… Check your pumps and hoses – make sure everything works and is ready to go.
βœ… Have a Bushfire Survival Plan – know what you’ll do and where you’ll go if a fire threatens.
βœ… Stay informed – download the Alert SA app, listen to local radio, and follow trusted sources like CFS for updates.
βœ… Talk to your family – make sure everyone knows your plan and what to do.

It’s always better to prepare early than to wait until it’s too late.
Stay safe, stay aware, and look out for one another πŸ’›πŸ”₯

πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ A Glimpse Into Arno Bay CFS ( and neighbouring brigade rudall) History

During a recent visit to the CFS Museum in Naracoorte, one of our members discovered a treasured piece of Arno Bay’s firefighting past proudly preserved among the state’s collection.

This small but significant find is a reminder of the legacy built by our volunteers over the years men and women who dedicated their time and courage to protecting both our town and the wider community.

The preservation of these artefacts ensures that the story of Arno Bay CFS, and the countless hours of service given, will not be forgotten. It stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, and community spirit that continues to define our brigade today.

We encourage anyone with an interest in South Australia’s firefighting heritage to visit the museum, where history lives on through the dedication of past and present volunteers.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ’› Happy Father’s Day! πŸ’›πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

Today we want to send out a big shout of appreciation to all the amazing dads, step-dads, grandpas, and carers in our community – especially those who juggle family life with volunteering their time to keep us safe.

To the dads in yellow overalls, the ones cheering from the sidelines, and the ones who can somehow fix anything with duct tape – we see you, and we thank you. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Wishing you a day filled with love, laughter, and hopefully a well-earned rest (unless the pager has other plans πŸ˜‰).
