NSW SES Auburn Unit The Auburn Unit of the NSW State Emergency Service in Metro Zone It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 228 units located throughout New South Wales.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSWSES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the state. This includes

road accident rescue, vertical rescue,bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required doe to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters.The NSW SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, The NSW Rural Fire Service,the Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW.

With windy weather heres some quick tips to keep you and your family safe:
🔸 Move your car away from trees and powerlines
🔸 Secure loose items around your house
🔸 Stay indoors away from windows
🔸️ Keep pets indoors
🔸If a tree has fallen over powerlines, please call your energy company and stay clear of powerlines.

Download the Hazards Near Me App and set your Warning Zones as it is constantly changing.

Call NSW SES on 132500 for emergency assistance and call 000 for life-threatening emergencies.

🚨 A new national warning system is being tested TODAY across Australia with NSW residents receiving alerts at 2pm.

Your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

The AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system across Australia.

⚠️ If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

The NSW SES is a volunteer agency and is the primary agency for three specific types of emergencies:
✅️Floods: Rescuing people trapped by rising water, delivering supplies to isolated communities, and issuing evacuation orders.
✅️Storms: Managing damage from wind, rain, and hail such as fixing leaking roofs, removing fallen trees from houses/roads, and clearing storm debris.
✅️Tsunamis: Planning and managing the response to potential tsunami threats along the NSW coastline.
