✨🌌 Nature's beacon lights the way to the historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse .

The tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, at 39m, this watchtower sits just outside Augusta on a peninsula where the Indian and the Southern Oceans meet.

On a clear night, you can watch the Milky Way rise behind it, and during the day - tours run to showcase the old lighthouse keepers houses, as well as the magnificent views atop this still-working limestone behemoth.

✨🌊 If you're planning a visit to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse this Friday, the last tour will begin at 2:30pm, with the site closing its doors at 3pm.

🔗 We strongly recommend booking your tour in advance, and if you are taking the last tour of the day, arrive a little earlier to wander the heritage grounds and explore the charming lightkeepers' cottage. We will be back to regular hours on Saturday,

Throwing it back to the early 1920s when the McKay family visited Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse! Built in 1896, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse still holds its title as the tallest on the Australian mainland and has witnessed many stories over the years.

Back then, visitors had to earn their climb by helping the lighthouse keeper carry a heavy kerosene can up all 176 steps! 💪⚓ The light, which was manually operated until 1982, stood guard over one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most treacherous coastlines—a vital beacon guiding ships through the waters where over 22 wrecks once occurred before its construction.

Here’s to the history, the families, and the lighthouse that’s been a steadfast protector on the coast for over a century!
