Hey again, thank you to everyone who has dropped off supplies to the station. We are well stocked and have alot more than what we know what to do with (we have supplied a couple of neighbouring brigades with supplies and there very grateful) If you want to donate supplies please consider dropping off at relief centre (seymour aquatic centre, euroa show grounds) you can also ring the shire and ask were they can be dropped off. Again thank you to everyone who dropped onto check on us and see if we needed anything.

Good morning Avenel, with cooler conditions today and things seeming to be calming down over the next couple of days people may feel its ok to go out and about to have a look up around Upton road and tarcombe road. There are road closed signs but we all know you can drive around those, PLEASE DONT, there is still active fire in the area, there are alot of burnt trees that can fall over the road and trap you up there, emergancy service personnel are still up there working. People who live up there will be slowly making there way up there to see the extent of damage, they dont need strangers driving past looking at them, its going to be a very emotional time for these families and we need to give them there privacy. As a community all we can do is give them the support they will need when the time comes.
As always any questions please reach out.

Good evening everyone. Avenel crews are all home and safe. Both trucks are in the shed for the night (unless we get called out) and our members are getting some well deserved rest before tomorrow. Just a little info to put some minds at ease, if both trucks are out at the fires trucks from surrounding areas are brought in and stationed at Avenel for local call outs. Today Nagambie cfa had a truck down here looking after our area and for that we are thankful.
Good night Avenel hopefully we have a quiet night.

Please prepare to leave. Conditions are changing all the time. We can not guarantee that we can help you if the fire impacts the town and your still there. Please check on elderly or vaunrable neighbours and make sure there ok. LEAVE EARLY.

Just a quick update, the Hume freeway between seymour and violet town is closed. Avenel longwood road is closed. Please do not attempt to travel on these roads or find a sneaky way around the road blocks. The fire is still going, there are alot of emergency service vehicles in the area working hard. Both tankers attended the nagambie fire and then were sent to the longwood fire, we had a crew out over night and a call out at 2am for the other tanker when the fire jumped the Hume. Members are currently resting until we get called out again. The next 2 days are going to be very hot and very windy, today and tomorrow are total fire bans with tomorrow being rated as catastrophic which is the highest rating possible. As always any questions please reach out.
