One of the few remaining buildings that was relocated from the historic gold mining town of B**g B**g Victoria. I fell in love with this house before I brought it, I used to sit out the front every now and then and just look at her. I booked an inspection and was rather unimpressed of the inside tbh, as I had a smaller home I had just finished and was very comfy there. I left and days later was ba
ck out the front again, then sitting on the veranda looking at the view, I inspected again! lol nothing.....
The day the for sale sign was removed around 16 months later! I rang the agent straight away, she said they had taken it off the market, I felt my heart breaking, she said why don't you make an offer, so I did and the next day had a contract signed. and a few believers ha ha... half the town had trapes through not seeing any potential or resigning the home to the "too hard" basket. I had dome some minor renovating, yet nothing like what this house was going to need, and not quite anything that I had in store either. I had intended to just repair it, yet that unfortunately is not what she was demanding, it was a full ground up rebuild from the underside to the roof, rewired, re stumped (joists, bearers, wall plate the lot!) an entire new sub floor was needed and there went pretty much my entire $26,000 budget. All three chimney bases collapsed, the wiring was almost live in metal conduit, so that was all removed straight away and a few powerpoints installed, and I lived with these 3 powerpoints for nearly 2 years :) ha ha... there was an endless array of unexpected things that kept arising, yet my love for the house never falted. Here we are today, I am trying to restore and preserve this home as best I possibly can, yet the budget dried up long ago and the work is still extensive, so I have decided to start a go fund me campaign for the house, to ensure it is still here for future generations to enjoy, as there are not many houses left built in 1864 in Avoca.
