📚 Nestled in the Moorabool Shire, two buildings within our main streets can open doors to bring you the world.

📖 Don't judge a book by its cover - amazing and incredible things happen each day behind those doors.

👩‍💻Need to 'be connected' to the digital world? Mary can crack the codes.

🦸‍♀️Need a safe place to bring the children? Sam and Stevie will use their creative magic to sparkle up your days. Need a space to hang out and just be you? We will let you be you!

🫶 We love what we do, and we love sharing our superpowers with you. Visit our branches in Ballan and Bacchus Marsh and you'll see where library magic happens each day ✨️

We are thrilled to unveil the longlist for the 2026 Peter Carey Short Story Award! 📚

In this milestone tenth year, we received over 400 submissions from talented writers across Australia—what an incredible response! Our dedicated longlisting panel (Brooke Dunnell, Gillian Hagenus and Adam Brannigan) had the tough task of narrowing this talented field down to a standout selection.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted their work—we are so grateful to be part of your writing journey.
