Good Afternoon Community!

Today our very own Sally braved the cold at Healesville Greyhounds Big Freeze event and took the big slide into the freezing Water!
Was great to see so many people either sliding, or supporting the event, including Aaron Violi MP who also took the plunge before Sally!

Well done everyone, a huge thank you to the Healesville Greyhounds for putting in such an important event, and of course well done Sally!

Stay Safe (and warm!) all!

Good Afternoon Community!

Our Brigades very own Community Safety Coordinator, Sally will be sliding into the big Freeze at the Healesville Greyhounds Fund Raiser for MND this Sunday!

Sally has personal history with MND having lost her Grandfather to the disease. Sally is passionate about supporting the community in anyway she can, and with this, having seen the devastating impact MND has on people and their family, she didn't hesitate to put her hand up!

Please get down to the Greyhound Club on Sunday, to not only show your support for Sally, but to the great cause the Healesville Greyhounds are raising funds for.

We would like to thank the Healesville Greyhounds for the work they are doing within our community, only months after raising funds for CFA brigades in our District.

Get on down and support them as much as you can!

Stay Safe All!

Our Next Slider has reached out to us and wants to make a difference!

Sal Wannet from Badger Creek Fire Brigades reaches out with the following,

----
I am joining the Big Freeze because this cause is very close to my heart. Through my lived experience having lost my grandfather, I have seen the impact that motor neurone disease (MND) can have on individuals and their families. It is a devastating disease that affects not only the person diagnosed but also everyone around them.

As a member of Badger Creek CFA, I am passionate about supporting my community and helping people during difficult times. Participating in the Big Freeze is an opportunity to combine that commitment with raising awareness and funds for vital MND research.

Today, I am taking on the role of Fireman Sam for the Big Freeze. It is a fun way to get involved, encourage donations, and bring smiles to people's faces while supporting an important cause. I am proud to stand alongside my community in support of those affected by MND and to help raise funds for research and support services.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps make a difference in the fight against MND.
----

Well done Sal, Cant what for you to join us for the Big Freeze at the Ville. https://support.fightmnd.org.au/fundraisers/BigFreezeattheVIlle

Good Evening Community!

Today is Smoke Alarm Action Day, and CFA is joining fire agencies across Australia to ask everyone to check their smoke alarms.

When was the last time you tested your smoke alarms? 🚨
The first day of winter 🥶 is a great reminder to take a few minutes to check ✅ that your smoke alarms are working and installed in the right locations throughout your home.

Modern homes burn hotter and faster than ever before. With more plastics, synthetic furnishings and other petroleum-based materials in our homes, a fire can spread rapidly, filling rooms with toxic smoke in just minutes.

Early warning is critical.
Recent fire investigations show that bedrooms and sleeping areas are the most common places where fatal and serious house fires start. If a fire starts while you're sleeping 💤 every second counts.

✅ Test your smoke alarms monthly
✅ Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, living area and hallway
✅ Consider interconnected smoke alarms - when one sounds, they all sound throughout the home
✅ Replace smoke alarms every 10 years
✅ Have and practise a home fire escape plan!!! Discuss with your family members including the kids.

As winter 🥶arrives, remember to keep heaters 🔥 at least one metre from curtains, bedding and clothing, and never leave candles 🕯️ cooking or heaters unattended.

A working smoke alarm 🚨 can provide the precious seconds needed to escape safely.

Take a moment NOW to test yours - it could save a life.

Stay Safe All!

Good Afternoon Community!

It is National Volunteer week 18th - 24th May we’d like to share with you!

Our Brigade of volunteers is made up of

Current FRV FF

Child care worker

Bicycle specialist
Retired Dental Nurse
Hospitality Manager
Hospitality staff

High School Students

They are all somebody’s son, daughter, sister, brother, mum, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparent, friend, employee, employer, neighbour the list goes on…but together we are Badger Creek CFA. We are all Volunteers, we are all on call 24/7, 365 days a year. We are highly trained and proud to serve our Community of Badger Creek and surrounds.
Why do we do it? Because we care: we care about our Community, our families, our friends, our neighbours and complete strangers. We do it because we want to help others. We belong, we matter, we are a team of ordinary people helping ordinary people in an emergency.

As this National Volunteer Week comes to a close if you haven’t already, take a minute to thank a Vol, regardless of the organisation they belong to, and ask yourself, is this something I could do? Can you “Give us a hand?” Because you can!

There are so many roles that make up a Brigade. Not everyone needs to be ready to jump on a truck and respond to calls; we have non-operational roles that are just as vital.
We want to say “Thank you” to our Community for always supporting us as a Brigade, and thank you to all of our volunteers, to all the people who volunteer in all of the organisations across the Country.
