Planning for the future of water starts with listening to our community. We want to hear what your priorities are for water supplies for the next 50 years.

We're now partway through our Urban Water Strategy workshop series, with upcoming visits to Omeo, Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Johnsonville, Mallacoota and Buchan. Sessions have already been held in Paynesville, Orbost and Metung.

The workshops are open to everyone - residents, community groups, businesses, etc. You'll hear about water supply and demand forecasts for the our water supply systems, factoring in population growth and climate change.

Planning for the future of water starts with listening to our community.

This week, we kicked off our first community engagement session in Paynesville, bringing together local residents to help inform our long-term planning for water security across East Gippsland.

During the two-hour workshop, participants explored findings from our recent community survey and shared their views on important topics including service levels, water restrictions, water security, and potential future water supply options.

These conversations are helping shape our 50-year vision for water security and will also inform our upcoming five-year Price Submission planning.

Our customers play an integral role in planning for the future, and we're looking forward to continuing these important discussions with communities across East Gippsland throughout August and September.

Whether you're in Orbost, Metung, Omeo, Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Twin Rivers, Mallacoota or Buchan, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the future of water in our region.

Have you started your National Water Week poster yet?

This is a friendly reminder that entries for our National Water Week Poster Competition close on 11 September 2026.

Students are invited to get creative and show us how we can all be water heroes by valuing, protecting and saving water every day.

Teachers can also access free classroom activity guides to link the poster activity to learning.

The competition is open to students from kindergarten through to Year 8, with some great prizes up for grabs.

Join our Summer Internship or Graduate Program and gain hands-on experience working on projects that matter.

๐Ÿ’ง Develop skills for a long-term career

The Summer Internship is for undergraduate students to complete paid work with us for 12 weeks over the university break, from December to February, with time off over Christmas. Closing 30 September.

The Graduate Program is a structured two-year development program, including department rotations and mentoring. It is targeted to students who have recently completed, or are about to complete, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Closing 31 August.

We recently hosted our first Winning Business Forum in Bairnsdale.
Aimed at civil, plumbing, and electrical contractors and consulting engineers, the session covered:
* outlined some of the projects coming up in our five-year capital works program
* the importance of submitting complete and thorough tender applications
* the benefit of outlining previous experience on similar projects (either as a company or individual personnel)
* our expectations around safe operations on our sites and projects
* our willingness to hear feedback to improve future tender processes and project documentation
