~Philosophy~

At Imaginarium Family Day Care I aim to create a special place that harmoniously meets both parent’s and children’s needs. With welcoming smiles and open arms, making it my numbe

r one priority to help both the children and their families feel comfortable, safe and nurtured when attending care. I strongly believe that children learn, grow and develop their own identity when given the opportunity to explore through positive play and life experiences. I feel that by providing warm welcoming, age appropriate and nature inspired learning spaces that the children will be able to do just that. In my eyes it is paramount that all of the children have a sense of belonging when attending care, I will enhance their sense of belonging by providing the children with the freedom to discover, play, use their imaginations and have a say in the way they learn.

This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC week.
After the children and I researched some great anoriginal dot art online and we were feeling inspired and the children began to create their own piece of rock art using the colours that are on the aborigianl flag.
We also spoke about what each colour on the flag represent.

Today one of the kiddies asked if we can visit "Gwanny (Granny)" so instead we called her to see if she'd like to visit us and read a story... without any hesitation she came over with two stories in hand.

What a delight it is to see the children build such a caring and respectful relationship with their elders.

What an amazing day full of soo much learning, curiosity and investigating!
We removed the plastic toys and replaced them with natural items that I have found and that the children brought into care.
The children made a box ramp for the cars, explored the shells with the magnified glasses, stacked the stones to make them balance, problem solved with the feathers in the tissue box and best of all..... found our friend Nipper the crap hiding in a shell🦀🐚🐛🌿🍁

Today was all about looking a little closer.
With a few natural items, a magnified glass and some pencils Miss N was able to observe the markings on the natural items a little closer. With her observations she put her perception to paper by drawing the fine details of the pinecones and sticks.

Yet another fantastic day had by all, we started our day off learning about self help skills by collecting the fruit for morning tea and cutting it without assistance.
We then moved on to making playdough by scratch and discussing the ingredients needed and measuring it all out. One child pointed out that the playdough was the same colour as grass.. we used this information and made our very own playdough gardens.

What better way to learn how to write your name than doing it with playdough and beads.
My two 3yr olds showed so much interest in using beads to try and make the shapes of the letters in their names.
This is a great activity not only to teach the children how to write their name but also to encourage fine motor, sensor and literacy skills.

What better way to spend my 30th yesterday than with my giggly day care kiddies and my girls.
Look at how much fun we had making birthday cupcakes.
Thank you to one of the Mums for coming early to celebrate with us and help out xx
