Year 11 Visual Arts students recently attended a workshop at the National Art School, developing their skills in observational drawing while experiencing one of Sydney’s most prestigious art institutions. Students applied their understanding of perspective to document their surroundings, carefully positioning themselves to capture the historic, character filled buildings that make up the campus. The workshop provided an opportunity for students to work directly from their environment, translating the architectural details and unique qualities of the school into their drawings.

🏉 BALLY OLD BOYS | A FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT ❤️💙

Bally Science/ Physics Teacher Mr Backhouse l reflects on a special grand final experience alongside three Bally alumni — Max, Shannon & Indra our SLSO/ GA
“I had the privilege of lacing up the boots and winning a rugby league grand final alongside three Bally alumni: Max, Shannon & Indra.
These boys were only in Year 8 when I first arrived at this great school and ended up graduating as part of Jono Katz's 2022 cohort.
It felt surreal that I had coached these same boys when they won their Under 15s grand final for the school, at the same venue, back in 2019.
I'll be far too old to play in a game of footy with my future son. However, playing alongside these ex-Bally boys felt as close as I could get to experiencing a father-son moment on the footy field.”

This is what makes a school community special.

The friendships formed at Bally last well beyond the school gates.

Discover the amazing skills our students are developing at Balgowlah Boys!
Today, we’re spotlighting the Furnishings course, where students have been hard at work creating stunning Resin Pour Stools. They’ve used a variety of joinery and finishing techniques to craft high-quality furniture that showcases their talent and dedication.
Vocational pathways in this field include Furniture Manufacturing, Cabinet Making, Shopfitting, and Joinery – excellent career options for hands-on learners!

Our Music Showcases last week were some of the best yet! Our Year 11 and 12 students amazed the audience on Wednesday, and our Band Program and Elective students took to the stage with gusto on Thursday. With the support of the amazing Bally community, we have raised $6300 for our Music Department, which will go straight back to giving the boys the best Music education possible. A huge thank you to our P&C and Music Department for two amazing nights!
