Fire and Rescue NSW Station 210 Balgownie

It is with great sadness I share the news that Retired “210” Balgownie Captain Greg Fredericks AFSM 210007, passed away on Wednesday 29th July 2026.
Comrade Greg served his Community with great commitment for 45 years from 1973 to 2018 and was station Captain from 2014 to 2018.
In 2014 Greg was awarded the prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) for his dedication to FRNSW and the great work he did with NSW Firefighter Championships Association.
Greg’s ongoing care, support, knowledge and friendship will be dearly missed by all current and former Comrades of 210 Balgownie station.
Our thoughts are with Greg’s immediate family, wife Robyn, children Nicole, Blake and Erin, all of his cherished grandchildren, family and friends.
Greg’s life will be celebrated at 10am on Monday 10th of August 2026, at Hansen & Cole funerals, located at 634 Northcliffe Drive, Kembla Grange.
All current and former “210” Balgownie Fire Brigade Comrades and others are invited to attend his funeral where a FRNSW Guard of Honour will be provided.

Greg thank you for your guidance and friendship, I will miss your insightful chats and advice, you will be missed by many but your legacy will always remain.

Hi All, we would love you to pop into Balgownie Fire Station between 10am and 2pm this Saturday 9th of May to meet your local friendly firefighters 👨‍🚒 and get some photos 📷 with the fire truck 🚒 or have a go with the hose, if you get in early you’ll be able to grab a free sausage sandwich 🌭 and there is some free giveaways for the kids.

210 Balgownie Fire Station Santa 🎅 Lolly Run 2025
Hi All, we will be hitting the streets from Midday on Christmas Eve so keep an ear out for our sirens and come out and say Gday to Santa 🎅 and grab yourself a lolly.
This week we had to do major mechanical work on our 1961 Bedford Fire Truck 🚒 and this work was kindly done by one of our members Guy Jenkins and his son Aiden they have saved the day for us and we are very grateful so if you have any mechanical needs please support this local business

This week “210” Balgownie Fire Brigade were officially recognized for our Centenary by Anthony Albanese Prime Minister of Australia & Alison Byrnes MP
Federal Member for Cunningham, the official certificate states;

“For over a century every firefighter, both past and present at Balgownie Fire Brigade has proudly served the Illawarra community with great bravery, dedication, and resilience.
Thank you for every fire fought, for every risk taken, and for every life saved.”
