It was great to see so many old faces, and even more new ones at the Oakbank School on Election day. On behalf of the Oakbank/Balhannah CFS, thank you all VERY much for your generous donations, our Brigade and its Members are sincerely grateful. We look forward to seeing you all out and about, and if you spoke to us about becoming a member, drop in to the Station at training on a Monday night at 7.30 pm and meet the crew!

On Saturday 14 March 2026, Oakbank/Balhannah CFS were invited to attend (for a little bit of help 😉) another community event, the SALMRA (South Australian Lawn Mower Racing Association) Season opener at the Oakbank Race Course, what a fun day….certainly horse power of a different kind!

Huge thanks to the Oakbank Hotel! 🙌

We’re incredibly grateful to Craig and Hayley for their ongoing support of our community through the Monday evening dinners — your generosity means so much.

In addition, an extra special shoutout to Mark Bowler, Manager of the Oakbank Hotel, who went above and beyond earlier this year by walking well over 40 km for his 40th birthday to raise funds for the Oakbank/Balhannah CFS 🚶🎉

Thanks to these amazing efforts and donations, we’ve been able to purchase a Quickcut Saw — a vital piece of equipment that helps our volunteer firefighters gain fast access during structure fires, in an effort to save lives and property.

Your support strengthens our community and helps us protect it. 💛🔥

Mark, the Manager of the Oakbank Hotel, will be turning 40 this year, and he has challenged himself to walk 40km in one day, in collaboration with the Oakbank Hotel. For every $50 that is raised, he will walk an additional 1 km. His walk will be held on 24 February 2025, commencing in Nairne, and it will finish at the Oakbank Hotel, with the Hotel hosting a Community Fundraising Dinner (donating $5 for every main course purchased), with all funds raised being pooled and generously donated to the Oakbank / Balhannah CFS, to continue our work supporting our local communities; and other areas in the State and Australia as the needs arise.

Thank you Mark, Craig and Hayley from the Oakbank Hotel for this wonderful and generous fundraising venture.
