We recently completed the installation of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection facilities at our White Swan Water Treatment Plant.

The project represents a $3 million investment in our ongoing commitment to delivering high quality drinking water to our customers. This improvement adds another layer of treatment to our already robust processes and supports our ongoing alignment with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

The project included the installation of six ultraviolet reactors capable of treating the plant’s maximum production of 65ML/d.

During National Volunteer Week we were proud to celebrate the incredible volunteers who make a meaningful difference across our communities, especially those supporting us at Moorabool Park.

Recently, we acknowledged and thanked the dedicated Friends of the Moorabool volunteers whose time, passion and commitment help keep Moorabool Park a thriving and enjoyable place.

Their contribution plays an important role in creating a welcoming and vibrant space for the community to enjoy and visit.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all volunteers for the valuable work they do and for the positive impact they continue to make every day.

Members of our team had the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues and partners from across the water industry at Ozwater26 this week.

With over 5,000 water professionals in attendance over 4 days, it was an incredible opportunity to expand knowledge, explore opportunities and have meaningful conversations about all things water.

Highlight topics included digital transformation, circular economy approaches, climate-driven water quality risks and sustainable infrastructure.

We also celebrated two of our recent major projects, which were both named as finalists in the Australian Water Association National Water Awards.

‘Beaufort Reuse for Recreation’ and ‘Operational Change, Customer Impact: Quarterly Billing Implementation’ were recognised alongside the best water projects from across Australia for their innovation, leadership, infrastructure, and for inspiring positive change to drive a sustainable water future.

Community wellbeing and climate change adaptation were central to the Beaufort Reuse for Recreation project, an Infrastructure Project Innovation Award finalist at the Australian Water Awards last night.

This integrated water management project is now sustainably reusing water to improve playing surfaces for multiple community recreation, sporting and educational facilities in Beaufort.

After being announced as the Victorian awards winner in 2025, it was exciting to be represented alongside the best projects Australia-wide.

We congratulate all finalists on their outstanding projects, with a special mention to ‘Healthy Coorong, Healthy Basin On-Ground Works – Lake Hawdon North Project’ which was recognised as the overall winner of this award.

National Reconciliation Week's theme of All In encourages all to commit to reconciliation every single day and work collectively to advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.

Our recent transition to quarterly billing, and the cashflow and household budget management benefits this offers customers, has been recognised at the Australian Water Awards.

“Operational Change, Customer Impact: Quarterly Billing Implementation” has been named as a finalist in the national Customer Experience Award.

Our shift from triannual to quarterly billing followed consultation with over 1,000 local community members and was delivered as part of our customer-first culture.

The winners of the 2026 Australian Water Awards will be announced at Ozwater’26 in Brisbane on Wednesday 27 May 2026.

We congratulate our fellow finalists Melbourne Water, TasWater, North East Water and Urban Utilities (QLD) on their outstanding projects.

This week, Beaufort Primary School students enjoyed a special day out at Ballarat Wildlife Park after their award-winning Echidna took out the Judges Choice Award at the 2026 Ballarat Begonia Festival.

The Water and Native Animals art competition aimed to raise awareness of native animals found across our region while helping students understand the important role water plays in healthy ecosystems

Josh Shuttleworth, Beaufort Primary School Teacher said, “This is a great opportunity for our students to see native animals up close and connect this experience with their classroom learning about protecting and conserving water for all.”

A big thank you to Ballarat Wildlife Park for partnering with us on this wonderful education initiative.

That’s a tap, or should we say a wrap, on our Hydration Station season 💧

From Ballan, Clunes and Maryborough to Woady Yaloak, we proudly supported 10 local community events, helping attendees Choose Tap.

Across the 2025–26 season, 5,485.5 litres of fresh tap water was enjoyed. Saving the equivalent of 10,971 500ml single-use plastic bottles from our environment.

1,371.38 litres of oil and 7,131.15 kilograms of CO₂ emissions were also avoided, showing how small choices can make a big difference.

Applications for our 2026–27 Hydration Station season open 1–31 July. Visit our website to check eligibility criteria and apply.
