Last night, community members from across Ballarat gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral to stand in solidarity with our local Nepali community.

Seeing so many candles lit in remembrance of those affected by the recent floods in Nepal was deeply moving. It was a powerful reflection of what our region stands for: compassion, unity, and supporting one another through times of grief.

BRMC extends our sincere thanks to everyone who came along to light a candle, share a prayer, and offer their support and condolences.

👀✨ Playgroup Highlights – Healthy Eyes Week ✨👀

Last week at playgroup, we learned about the importance of looking after our eyes and how they help us see the world around us.

📖 Our storytellers read the book "Through Our Eyes", encouraging children to think about how we see, learn, and experience the world in different ways.

😎 The children had lots of fun making and decorating their own colourful sunglasses, expressing their creativity while learning about eye health through play and hands-on activities.

Along with the themed activity, children enjoyed playing, exploring, and spending time with their friends in a welcoming and supportive environment. It was a fun-filled session full of learning, creativity, and smiles! 💛🌈

Maths Adventure at Homework Club!

Last week, our Homework Club students enjoyed an exciting Maths Adventure, exploring a variety of hands-on activities designed to make learning fun and meaningful.
Students practised their maths skills through:
• Colour, Shape and Size Sorting Activities
• Pattern Making with popsicle sticks, loom bands, paper chains and pompoms
• Class Surveys and Bar Graphs
• Shopping Role Plays and Budget Challenges
• Mini City Design Projects involving measurement, area and perimeter
• Birthday Party Budget Planning Activities

Through these activities, students developed their understanding of sorting, patterning, data collection, graphing, measurement, money management, problem-solving and teamwork. It was wonderful to see students collaborating, thinking critically, and confidently explaining their mathematical reasoning.
A big thank you to our dedicated tutors and peer tutors for supporting and encouraging our students throughout the activities. Your guidance helps make learning engaging, enjoyable and rewarding.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful day out on Wednesday!
We started at the Palace Regent Cinema to watch Holy Days, followed by a lavish lunch at the beautiful Craig’s Royal Hotel.

It was a lovely day filled with laughter of course, delicious food!

Parents' Information Session with CASA

As parents, we all want to help our children stay safe, confident, and supported.

Join us for a FREE information session presented by the Ballarat Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA), where experienced professionals will share practical information about child safety, online safety, consent, recognising signs that a child may need support, and where families can access help if needed. Parents will also learn about local support services available for children, young people, and families.

This is a supportive, parent-focused session designed to increase awareness and empower parents with knowledge and resources. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the support available in our community.

We encourage all parents and caregivers to attend this valuable session.

BRMC is thinking especially of families here in Ballarat who have loved ones, family and friends living in or close to the areas impacted. We know this may be an anxious and worrying time.

At times like these, the strength of our community matters. We encourage everyone to check in on one another, stay connected and support those who may be worried about loved ones.

BRMC Playgroup is excited to offer a Mandarin Storytime for children and families! 🎉

Storytime is a wonderful way for young children to develop a love of books while being introduced to the beauty of the Mandarin language and culture. Through engaging stories, songs, and interactive activities, children will have the opportunity to learn new words, build confidence, and enjoy a rich cultural experience in a fun and welcoming environment. 💛

👶 Suitable for children under 5 years and their families
📍 Monday Playgroup(10:30am to 12noon) at Djila-tjarriu Community Hub

Whether your family speaks Mandarin at home or would simply like to expose your child to another language and culture, everyone is welcome to join us! 🌈
