On behalf of the members of 8/7 RVR, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Major Hugh McFadden.
The loss of a leader, mate, and family man is felt across the entire Army community. While many will remember Hugh for his rank and service, it is often the qualities behind the uniform that leave the greatest mark. His smile, laughter, energy, and commitment to those around him made a lasting impression on everyone privileged to serve alongside him.
Hugh’s passing is a reminder of the strength shown not only by him, but also by his family and loved ones who stood beside him throughout that journey. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
Please know that you do not stand alone in your grief. The officers and soldiers of 8/7 RVR share in your loss and stand with you as you honour Hugh’s life, service, and legacy.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Major Hugh McFadden, our Battalion Second In Command.
Major McFadden lost his battle with cancer this morning and passed away peacefully, whilst surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Hugh’s smile, laughter and energy will be sorely missed.
A service to commemorate Hugh’s life will be announced shortly, with details shared through the appropriate channels.
The Battalion extends our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and friends.
