Ballarat Blue Light Disco

Ballarat Blue Light Disco Ballarat Blue Light Discos run one event per term for primary school age children. Events are held at the Sebastopol RSL hall between 7-9pm.

https://www.bluelight.org.au/ballarat-blue-light/ The Blue Light program has evolved and not only includes discos but also a diverse range of youth programs and initiatives. Our vision is ‘to be a leader in youth engagement’, and to achieve this outcome our mission is ‘to enable youth engagement through the provision of Blue Light initiatives, between Victoria Police and the community, in order to

achieve positive outcomes for young people’. All our programs and activities are conducted in a safe supervised environment by police members and community volunteers. They are free from alcohol, drugs and violence. Our program has developed into a crime prevention initiative, which aims primarily to identify and address the needs of young people who are ‘at risk’ and also provide education, crime reduction, life skill, cultural, social and sporting programs for young people aged between 5 – 18 years. Blue Light will also donate surplus funds back into the community particularly where they will benefit young people and youth orientated charities.

Afternoon Blue Lighters

With only 35 tickets purchased so far, we have made the unfortunate decision to cancel our event this Friday night.

This isnt ideal but we need to hold firm and try and build a culture of early ticket sales so we can plan for staff, volunteers and food.

That said, enjoy your Friday night and stay warm and we hope for more support in Term 4.

Vale Inspector Dunn.

Members of the Ballarat Blue Light are saddened to learn of the passing of former Ballarat Blue Light President and Life Member, Vic Dunn.

Vic’s passion for youth engagement and for young people from all backgrounds was exemplary.

Vic’s direct involvement was the catalyst for the reinvigoration of the Blue Light movement across Ballarat and his legacy remains today.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies the extended Dunn family 💙🤍

Thank you to all those who attended Friday night's disco, with over 150 kids in attendance, it was a hugely successful night.

We would like to take this opportunity, however, to remind all parents, guardians and carers that all our blue light discos are for primary school children only.

It was disappointing to see a couple of adults trying to vouch for over aged children gaining access.

Our volunteers do not know who is and who isn't a primary school child, but we do our best and need the support of parents to achieve this.

Unfortunately, an incident occurred between two patrons which has resulted in one child being banned from any future events.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to any inappropriate behavior, violence or disrespect towards our volunteers, and no one will be given a second chance.

Our volunteers give up their own time to run these events and we do not want, nor need any issues.

Our aim has always been to run a fun, safe event and fortunately 99% of our kids come to have a good time and nothing more.

Please remember that tickets must be pre-purchased before each event; we no longer accept cash at the door. Tickets are purchased via Eventbrite with a simple google search, or you can use the QR code to scan the link.
