In modern conflict environments, physical strength is only part of the equation. Being aware of your body in a 3D space, moving efficiently under pressure and safely extracting casualties🤕 are critical skills for every ADF Medic.

Here, PTE Bale and SMN Pratap put their skills to the test during group PT as part of the Joint ADF Medic Course at the ADF School of Health.

Through challenging and practical training activities like these, our future medics continue to build the fitness💪🏼, confidence and capability needed to support their teams when it matters most.

🚑💥 Training for the worst day imaginable so they’re ready when it matters most.

Trainees on the ADF Extended Practice Nursing Course recently took part in a challenging Mass Casualty (MASCAS) training activity designed to test their ability to operate in complex and chaotic environments.

The day began with physical training to induce fatigue before participants were thrust into a realistic MASCAS scenario featuring approximately 25 casualties🤕. Conducted in darkness with fog, distracting audio effects and role players instructed to be non-compliant, the exercise created a highly demanding and immersive environment.

🩺 Under pressure, students were required to demonstrate:
✅ Clinical reasoning
✅ Leadership
✅ Decision-making
✅ Effective casualty management

Exercises such as these are part of the , blending soldier skills with specialisation to ensure our military health professionals are prepared to make critical decisions and deliver exceptional care when operating in challenging and unpredictable conditions.

36 staff and students from the ADF School of Health took a relaxing dip yesterday…😉🥶

Their shivering, chattering teeth and goose-pimples went towards a very worthy cause - raising money for Motor Neuron Disease through the 19th annual Big Freeze❄️. The Big Freeze is a colourful🌈, icy plunge taken at the beginning of every snow season at Falls Creek. This year saw just shy of 100 brave participants.

Awesome work team! 🫡

When the parade ground finally fell quiet again and the kangaroos 🦘 resumed their positions, the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Banner Parade dinner 🍽️ commenced…

Of course, it was a night to remember for all, but particularly WO1 Taylor and WO1 Brendan Johnson.

WO1 Neil Taylor was presented the fourth clasp to his Defence Long Service Medal, signifying 35 years of service by none other than than RAEME Head of Corps, Brigadier Gabrielle Follett. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

WO1 Brendan Johnson was also awarded his fourth clasp to the DLSM - in addition to a Chief of Defence Force Gold Commendation🏅. This honour was specifically awarded for dedication to duty in providing emergency bereavement support to the families of the lost soldier in the MHR 90 incident in 2023 as a Military Support Officer - more on this soon.

A huge congratulations to both from everyone at ALTC on all of these fantastic achievements. 🫡
