“Good News”

Barcaldine Regional Council has successfully secured approximately $4.5 million in Queensland Government funding through the Resource Recovery Boost Fund to improve waste management facilities across the region.

This is dedicated grant funding provided specifically to help councils address waste and landfill challenges, improve environmental outcomes, strengthen compliance, and increase resource recovery and recycling opportunities.

The funding will be used to deliver improvements at the Barcaldine waste facility and will also support upgrades across other waste facilities throughout the region. Projects may include measures to reduce the risk of landfill fires, improve waste handling and recycling, enhance environmental compliance, upgrade infrastructure, and improve the long-term operation and sustainability of our waste facilities.

Our focus will be on ensuring the funding is invested wisely to deliver practical, long-term benefits for the community, improve safety and environmental outcomes, and help create a more sustainable waste management system for the future.
