On Thursday, the Bargara Bookworms travelled to Maryborough to compete in the CBCA Readers Cup. The competition required students to read 5 books and discuss and question each other on their knowledge of the books prior to competition day.

Mrs Parsons our team facilitator was not able to guide or quiz the students on their knowledge of the books, it all had to come from the student’s knowledge of the books and their own intrinsic drive.

This amazing group of students have worked hard over the past 10 weeks, showing up for each other and pushing each other to gain the most knowledge possible, and their hard work has paid off.

We were blown away on competition day with the school spirit and team work that the students displayed and was so proud when they tied for equal 2nd out of 33 teams. Our team scored a whopping 67.5 points coming equal second to the team who won on 68 points. 👏 🥈

To cap off a wonderful day of competition and to celebrate the love of reading Mr Nastasi shouted the team a frozen drink on the way back to school.

After 2 years we say good bye to Holly & Lennon who were part of our original team last year and look forward to seeing who will join Lachie and Eli in 2027. Congratulations Bargara Bookworms!

🏆🏉 Kaufusi Cup Grand Final 🏉 🏆

Congratulations St Mary’s for your sportsmanship and performance during the Grand Final. We wish you all the best as you progress into the broader Wide Bay competition to represent Bundy as the grand final winners.

Bargara Bullets we are beyond proud of our 2026 team. To progress further than any Bargara team before you in competition rounds, to be the first to wear our new jerseys, to play with no reserves and injuries and pull together to play in the spirit of the game is exceptional.

A huge thanks to our broader school community that showed up to the games and encourage and cheered on the team. There is no doubt that your support was a big part of the teams success and demonstrated a big part of what is so very special about our school.

Congratulations to Clancy who was named as one of the two award recipients for his performance and sportsmanship in the game.

Thanks to Mr Jordan for your outstanding commitment to coaching and mentoring our team again this year and Mr Johnson for assisting.

This week is Chaplinacy Week, thanks to our amazing Chappy Dani. We love having a Chappy back at our school and appreciate all you are doing with re-establishing Breakfast Club, Lunchtime activities and student, family and community support.

🌟 Jersey Colours Day 🌟

To boost team spirit ahead of the big game, our Student Council has called for a Jersey Colours Day on Wednesday.

Students are invited to wear their favourite team jerseys or sporting colours for any sport or activity. We are also expecting to see a wave of Maroon ahead of Wednesday’s State of Origin game... maybe some blue....

Free dress should be school appropriate and sun-safe. Students need to wear their regular school shoes.

Please bring a gold coin donation to go towards Student Council projects such as fundraising for a new drink cooler for our school.
