Another successful morning out taking care of the new seedlings. Thanks to everyone that came down!
It’s been a promising winter hopefully setting the plants up for a good run through summer.
If anyone wants to organise another busy bee to do some more w**ding in spring, let me know and we’ll make it happen! It’s a lovely time of year at the reserve 🌱🌿🌾

Sunday mornings forecast is looking perfect for another day of planting. We'll be down at Broadway Reserve from 9am off the main central pathway planting some shrubs and groundcovers.
We've got quite a few plants to get in, so the more hands, the better—and the sooner we can all enjoy a well-earned cup of coffee, basking in the satisfaction of a super-productive Sunday morning. 😄
If you can, please bring along a pair of gloves.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi All,

We had a great morning out Sunday week ago and managed to plant most of the trees which are getting a much needed watering. At this stage the second planting day will be happening next Sunday the 13th.

If you can make it down that would be great! I will reconfirm Friday in case the weather forecast changes for the worse.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi All,

It’s that time of year again — our Tree Planting Days are happening soon. We’ve got 500 plants this time, including 300 trees, so it's going to be a busy couple of mornings.

When:

Sunday, June 29 (weather dependent)

Sunday, July 13 (edited) (weather dependent)

Time: 9am - 11pm

Where: Broadway Reserve (Centenary Ct side)

We’re focusing on planting native trees in the southern part of the reserve where the old path has been removed to try and create a leafy canopy that’ll (hopefully) keep the w**ds down and give our shrubs some room to breathe. Last year’s shrub's success rate wasn't great in areas but along the swamp, there are still quite a few that are still kicking, so we'll also aim to fill this area out a bit more. We have some soil additives this year so we're going to quality over quantity!

What to bring:

Sturdy shoes (no flip-flops, please)

Gloves

Water, sunscreen, and a hat

Long sleeves to avoid getting scratched

Let me know if you’re in by 25th — just reply to this email/message.

Or if you are really interested and would prefer a different day/time, please send me some feedback.

Let’s get some trees in the ground!

Thanks,
Tom Floyd

Hi Everyone,

We finished planting last Sunday with another 200 (mostly grasses) put in along the pond tree line. This brings our total to 940 plants for the season! Generally most of the plants that have been put in are doing alright, so fingers crossed we have quite a few that last the summer.
Thankyou to everyone who has come down and helped out this year, its been really great!
Theres been quite a lot of w**ds with the rain that we've had, so if anyone is keen to get out on a weekend and pull a few, let me know and ill be happy to come down.

Ill be in touch with details as we come up with a plan for next season. Any ideas, please feel free to reach out :)

Thanks Again,
Tom

Hi All,

A friendly reminder that we're going to be planting again this Sunday for anyone who is free to come down! The weather is looking mighty fine again, sunny with a low of 9 and a top of 19. We'll be down there again from 9 - 12 so please feel free to drop in whenever your available.

The plants have been loving the rain we've been having, but so have the w**ds, so if we finish early we might w**d some strategic areas too :)

See the event for more details.

Seeyou there!
Tom

Hi All,

We have our second planting day set to kick off this Sunday! Its looking like a classic Perth sunny winter day with a low of 8 degrees and slight chance of rain after lunch.
In order to make Sunday a full planting day, we're going to try and tackle the w**ds for 1-2 hours tomorrow (Saturday) from around 11am.
I will probably start getting things down there on Sunday around 8-8:30 for a 9am start.

Things to bring are:
- Enclosed footwear
- Gloves
- Long sleeve clothing
- hat and sunscreen
- water
- A friend or neighbour

See you down there :)
