🔥 Pre-Summer Training is Underway! 🚒

With the warmer months approaching, Stonehaven Fire Brigade has begun our annual pre-summer training to make sure our members are ready for the upcoming fire season.

Over the coming weeks, crews will be refreshing and practising vital skills including communications, firefighter safety, truck familiarisation, equipment use and other essential firefighting skills.

Regular training ensures our members are confident, prepared and ready to respond when our community needs us most.

This weekend we held training sessions aimed at upskilling our members in pump operations, hose deployment and branch operation.

It was a fantastic weekend, with members gaining valuable hands-on experience, building confidence in their skills and getting plenty out of the training. A great effort from everyone involved. 🚒🔥

🔥🚒 Training Night 🚒🔥

Last night our members took part in a draughting training night, practising setting up and maintaining a water supply from static water sources 🚒

Training like this helps ensure our crews are prepared and confident when responding to incidents, especially in areas where hydrants may not be available. A great night spent building skills, teamwork and keeping operational readiness high.

With warm, windy conditions forecast tomorrow (Saturday), CFA is asking people to hold off on burn-offs.

Even though things have greened up a bit lately, we’re still seeing dry conditions around our area, and with wind picking up, burn-offs can easily get away from you.

🚜 If you’ve done a burn-off in the last couple of days, please take the time to check it is completely out.

A few quick reminders:
• Consider postponing any planned burn-offs until conditions ease
• Never leave a burn-off unattended
• Let your neighbours know and be mindful of smoke
• If you light it, you own it

Friendly reminder that the Fire Danger Period will be lifted on Monday the 13th of April for City of Greater Geelong and Golden Plans Shire!

The Fire Danger Period has been amended for the following municipalities, and will now be lifted as of 1:00am Monday 13 April 2026:

Borough of Queenscliffe
City of Greater Geelong
Golden Plains Shire Council
Surf Coast Shire Council
