🦋 Meet the Purple Copper Butterfly!
Did you know this beautiful butterfly is listed as Endangered in NSW and relies on both Australian blackthorn and native black ants to survive?

Our new Threatened Species Learning Program kicks off with a dedicated module that helps students learn about this remarkable local species through interactive activities, investigations and conservation-focused learning.

By inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards, we're helping build awareness and support for threatened species conservation in our region. 💚
Learn. Explore. Protect.

Introducing the Threatened Species Learning Program

Did you know the Bathurst region is home to some of Australia's most unique threatened species? To help students connect with and care for their local environment, we've developed the Threatened Species Learning Program, a series of five engaging learning modules featuring local species and the conservation challenges they face.

Students will discover the:
🦋 Purple Copper Butterfly
🐸 Booroolong Frog
🦎 Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon
🐦 Regent Honeyeater
🐨 Koala

Each module explores species anatomy, habitat, life cycle, ecology, threats and conservation, supported by hands-on activities, worksheets and citizen science opportunities that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and environmental stewardship.

📚 Designed for schools and educators, the modules can be used individually or as part of the complete program, with curriculum links provided to support classroom learning.

Together, we can help inspire the next generation to protect the wildlife and habitats that make our region so special.
