The Stone Pine Celebration exhibition at Café Viva, Bathurst opened Thursday 28 May to a loud enthusiastic community engaged crowd.

This exhibition was born out of joyous collaborations between Café Viva, Friends of Centennial Park and Art in the Park, Bathurst.

With reconciliation week upon us, Bathurst Living Legend Tony Eviston, the Chair of Vivability gave a beautiful acknowledgement of being in Wiradjuri Country, paying respect, coming together and showing kindness. He also acknowledgement the brimming room meant it was clear they needed a bigger space.

Peter Simmons of Friends of Centennial Park talked about his idea of a few years ago to do something to celebrate the stone pines. He said he “didn’t know where we were headed … but here we are tonight … well done to us”.

Fiona Howle had the crowd engaged with her telling of the migration of Art in Park Bathurst from the rains and floods in its first location along the Wambool Macquarie River to being evacuated by bat business at Machattie Park to the short stint at Kings Parade before the wonderful welcoming of the Friends of Centennial Park.

Vianne Tourle talked of the simple aim to love and preserve green space before officially opening the exhibition.

Stone Pine Distillery sponsored the lucky door prize and the ‘People’s Choice’ award.

The Shirley’s played away entertaining the crowds as they had at the April Art in the Park Stone Pine Celebration day.

The exhibition will continue for 2 months and is at Gallery Viva, in Café Viva, 107 William Street, Bathurst.

Art in the Park, Bathurst is on the third Sunday of each month.

We are raising $5000 to do so much more.

The arts are more impactful in our daily lives than we often imagine but arts funding is under immense pressure across regional Australia.

This tax time, we ask you to consider the profound value Arts OutWest brings to our communities - helping people stay connected, creative and future-focused, while ensuring arts and culture remain part of a thriving Central West.

As a not-for-profit organisation, much of what we do for creative communities is offered freely and made possible through the generosity of supporters like you. Your gift today is critical to our ability to advocate for the arts and deliver programs that create lasting impact - often in ways far greater than we first realise.

A donation to Arts OutWest is so much more than the gift of money. It’s connection, it’s growth, it’s a gift to yourself - because when you keep the arts alive, you keep your own heart beating.

Your support brings creativity to life. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation before June 30 and help us raise $5,000 so we can continue doing even more for communities across the Central West.

With thanks,
Kylie Shead
Executive Director, Arts OutWest
