World Elder Abuse Awareness Day aims to promote a better understanding of issues and attitudes that lead to elder abuse.

In recognition of this, Council has partnered with Relationships Australia and Chifley Police to develop a Wellbeing Booklet.

To learn more about Elder Abuse or to receive a booklet, come visit us outside Blooms the Chemist at the Bathurst Armada Shopping Centre from 10:00am until 2:00pm on Thursday 18 June 2026.

If you can’t get there on the day, booklets will also be available at the Bathurst Library and Bathurst Civic Centre, and via Council’s website: https://www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/files/assets/public/v/1/services/community-safety/elder-abuse-brochure-27.05.26.pdf

This is an initiative of Council's Positive Ageing Strategy 2021-2026, Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2027, and Community Safety Plan 2023-2028.

Do you have an issue with an unattended shopping trolley?

Always contact the operator (eg supermarket or department store) in the first instance. Some useful numbers include:

Some retailers also have online reporting forms- search “report abandoned trolley” and the retailer name for options.

Operators have obligations to remove the trolley in a timely manner (based on risk).
