Some of our members commemorated Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) at the Bathurst Carillon.

On 8 May 1945, the unconditional surrender of N**i Germany marked the end of the Second World War in Europe. Today, we solemnly remember all who served; those who returned home, and those who never did.

We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

Success at the Royal Bathurst Show!

Partnering with RSL NSW, 3 Wing Australian Air Force Cadets 328 (City of Bathurst) Squadron and our newly instated 239 ACU Bathurst Army Cadets recently at the Royal Bathurst Show over the first weekend of May. We extend a warm welcome to our new members and extend gratitude to the wider Bathurst community who said hello and enjoyed good, hearty conversation with current members.

A big thank you to our members who volunteered their time to represent our Subbranch and encourage community engagement.

Today marks 111 years following the Gallipoli landing and 110 years of ANZAC Day services across the nation. On the solemn day today is, we stop to pause, reflect and remember them.

Engrained into the Australian way, is the spirit of the ANZACs. Through us, their legacy lives on and should continue to do so for generations beyond.

Eloise, a local student addressed the community with compassion and the acknowledgement that ANZAC Day is not to celebrate war but to reflect on the costs paid by service personnel and their families. Her recollections of her trip to the Western Front brought distant events to the present. The way the soldiers, airmen and sailors showed courage, endurance and resilience where together, they pave the way of the ANZAC spirit.

Lest we forget.

Bathurst Dawn Service was attended in strong numbers this morning as our community came together to pause, reflect and remember those who fought for our freedoms. The atmosphere of mateship and comradeship highlights the importance of the legacy of the ANZACs.

We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

On the eve of ANZAC Day, some of our Executive and Committee members were privileged to be in attendance of our local schools’ ANZAC Day commemoration and wreath laying. What a fantastic service ran by the students and Royal Australian Air Force Cadets from 328 Squadron!

The students in attendance were left inspired and proud to be Australian as Cadet Under Officer Q. Jones spoke with eloquence and steadfast in his leadership as he addressed those who were came along on to represent their school. CUO Jones highlighted the ANZAC spirit extends beyond what we see and know through the movies, but rather to be what goes unnoticed or seemingly mundane. The consistency to show up and sacrifice parts of yourself to something bigger than you. The wisdom imparted was taken on board with enthusiasm and embodiment to continue to live out the ANZAC spirit and carry the legacy with pride.

We thank all who served and we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Lest we forget.
