Yesterday we attended a fire that had the potential to absolutely rampage through the bush. It started with a pile burn left unattended out at Brooman 🤦♀️. Luckily, someone driving past had called it in. When we got there the flames were in the trees as high as the truck. A 100 metre stretch of bush along the edge of River Road. Our training kicked in: the live reel used to dampen the flames, a 38 from the truck, breach, two 25s, foam, help from Kioloa and Nelligen crews until not a whisper of smoke left. Then we found another one 🤦♀️. Truly, the bush is soooo dry right now that if you’re going to do a pile burn then FOLLOW THE RULES!! Notify your neighbours, check the conditions and don’t leave it unattended. This fire could have been so much worse.
