Baxter Fire Brigade

Baxter Fire Brigade The Baxter Fire Brigade is a volunteer fire brigade of the Country Fire Authority (CFA). Do not report fires via social media.

For emergencies and fires call 000. Baxter Fire Brigade is an integral part of the community of Baxter and many surrounding areas of Frankston South, Mount Eliza, Somerville and Langwarrin South that lie within the primary response area. The fire fighting crew also assist with fighting fires throughout the State and Country as well as providing crews to assist with floods and storm damage outside

of our patch. The primary response area covers the grazing lands to the south, the escarpment to the west and north and the farmland to the east along the old Larnach Road. We have one of the most expensive and historical art collections at heritage listed Mulberry Hill. There is also heritage listed Sages Cottage, three schools, a few early learning locations, three service stations, four separate retail centres, a significant sporting precinct, a couple of nursing homes and a variety of industry. This is on top of a wide spread of residential areas. This variety of risk is the fabric of a community with a deep history. The brigade also supports the efforts of Frankston, Langwarrin, Mount Eliza, Moorooduc, Pearcedale and Somerville Fire Brigades who share their boundaries with us. Our location means that we are split between two Municipalities and have numerous State and Federal members that represent us. This means that we are often forgotten in the big scheme and although our community has been very self sufficient throughout history we do need assistance with political pressure and funding over the next few years so that we can continue to protect lives and property into the future with the best available equipment and suitable infrastructure for the Brigade.

πŸ’™ June is Men’s Mental Health Month πŸ’™

At Baxter Fire Brigade, we know that men’s mental health deserves attention and open conversation. Many men face pressure to stay strong, push through challenges, and keep their struggles to themselves, which can make it harder to reach out for support when it’s needed most. This month is an important reminder to check in with the men in our lives, our fathers, sons, brothers, partners, mates, colleagues, teammates, and fellow volunteers.

At the same time, we also recognise the women in our community, who may be facing their own mental health challenges while often supporting those around them. Everyone deserves care, understanding, and support.

A simple conversation, a message, a coffee, or asking β€œAre you okay?” can make a real difference.

Mental health struggles are not always visible. They can affect our family members, friends, workmates, teammates, and fellow volunteers. Looking out for one another is a responsibility we all share.

This month, we encourage our community to take a moment to check in on those around you and to reach out if you need support yourself. Strong communities are built on connection, compassion, and people looking after each other.

Stay safe, stay connected, and remember that help is always available. πŸ’™πŸš’

Over the last few weeks, our crews at Baxter CFA have attended a number of serious road crashes.

What has been truly astonishing is that we are still seeing people drinking and driving, speeding, and in some cases not even wearing seatbelts. Even more heartbreaking is when children are involved without being properly restrained.

Seatbelts save lives. It really is that simple.
They are the difference between walking away from a crash and not making it home at all.

No matter how short the trip is:
β€’ Wear your seatbelt correctly
β€’ Make sure every passenger is buckled up
β€’ Ensure children are in the correct child restraint for their age and size
β€’ Never drink and drive
β€’ Slow down and drive to the conditions

As emergency services, we see firsthand the devastating impact road trauma has on families, friends, and entire communities. The crashes we attend are not just statistics β€” they are real people, real families, and real heartbreak.

Please take the extra few seconds to buckle up properly and make sure your loved ones do too.

Drive safely. Make good decisions. Help us make sure everyone gets home. πŸš’

Happy Mothers Day from Baxter CFA

Today we celebrate all the amazing mums who volunteer with CFA. You give your time, your care and your strength to help others, even when it means stepping away from your own families. You show real courage and real heart.

To every mum who trains, responds and supports the community, thank you. You do so much for your family and you still find the energy to look after others. We are proud of you.

We also want to thank every parent who volunteers with CFA. Day or night, you are ready to help the community. Your commitment keeps people safe and it makes a real difference.

From all of us at Baxter CFA, we hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day. You deserve it.

πŸš’πŸŒ BAXTER CFA SAUSAGE SIZZLE πŸŒπŸš’

Come down to Bunnings Frankston and support your local legends at Baxter Fire Brigade CFA!

Because apparently fire trucks do not run on β€œgreat community spirit” alone… who knew? πŸ˜…

With government funding tighter than a sausage skin these days, every snag helps keep our brigade rolling, our volunteers trained, and the BBQ onions perfectly caramelised.

So grab a sausage, have a laugh with the crew, and support the volunteers who are there for the community 24/7 while the rest of us are trying to work out if the BBQ smoke means lunch is ready or the fire brigade is about to get a call. πŸ˜‚

βœ… Sausages
βœ… Smiles
βœ… Firefighters
βœ… Probably too much sauce

Bring the family, bring your mates, bring your appetite.

Support local volunteers. Support Baxter CFA. β€οΈπŸš’

Men. Women. Mums. Dads. Tradies. Office workers.
If you’ve ever thought, β€œCould I do that?” β€” this is your sign.

We’re primarily looking for operational firefighters β€” people ready to step up, train hard, and be there when the pager goes off. But we also need support members who keep everything running behind the scenes.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ OPERATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS (our main game)
β€’ Respond to fires, road accidents, and emergencies
β€’ Work as part of a tight, disciplined team
β€’ Learn real skills that make a real difference
β€’ Be the person others rely on when things go bad

This role isn’t about being fearless β€” it’s about being reliable, trained, and ready to act when it matters.

🀝 SUPPORT (NON-OPERATIONAL) MEMBERS
β€’ Help with admin, fundraising, and community events
β€’ Support the brigade so crews can do their job
β€’ Play a critical role without attending emergencies

No matter the role, you’re part of the same crew.

What you’ll get:
β€’ World-class training through the CFA
β€’ Strong mateship and a real sense of purpose
β€’ Skills, confidence, and experiences you won’t get anywhere else

What we’re looking for:
β€’ Commitment and consistency
β€’ A team-first attitude
β€’ People who want to give back to their community

No experience needed β€” just the willingness to learn and show up.

⚠️ Side effects: pride, resilience, lifelong friendships, and a serious respect for what your community does behind the scenes.
