The members of the club voted to continue.
A new executive will lead the club into the future.

I have pulled dead, mangled bodies from cars. I have lied to people as they were dying. I said you are going to be fine as I held their hand and watched the life fade out.

I have held dying babies. Bought lunch for people who were mentally ill and haven't eaten in a while. I have had people try to stab me and fought with people trying to shoot me.

I've been attacked by women while I was arresting their husband who had just severely beat them. I have held towels on bullet and stab wounds and done CPR when I knew it wouldn't help just to make family members feel better.

I have torn down doors, fought in drug houses. Chased fugitives through the bush. I have been in high speed car chases and foot chases across a freeway during peak hour traffic.

I have been in crashes. Squeezed the trigger about to kill a person when they came to their senses and stopped. Waded through large angry crowds by myself. Driven like a madman to help a fellow officer, and let little kids who don't have much sit in my police car and pretend they are a cop for their birthday.

I have taken a lot of people to the lock up. Given many breaks. Prayed for people I don't even know. Yes, and at times I have been "violent" when I had to be, and I have been kind when I could.

I admit I have driven to some dark place and cried by myself when I was overwhelmed, and I have missed Christmas and other holidays more than I wanted to.

Every cop I know has done all these things and more for lousy pay, exhausting hours, and a short life expectancy.

We don't want your pity, I don't even ask for your respect. Just let us do our jobs without killing or harming us.

Welcome to the Lions Club of Beachmere review for the past year.
As the new board take up their roles it is time to take a look back at the last year.
The year started off with the ongoing drought in Queensland. We continue to support the broader community each year. Our Club donated $5,000.00 to the Lions Drought appeal.
“The Australian Lions Foundation has been providing grants for disaster relief, compassionate support and community initiatives since the 1980’s. Every year the Foundation distributes more than $1 million for projects through local Lions Clubs”. The Australian Lions Foundation will initially contribute $100,000 to the National Drought Relief Appeal.
Beachmere attended the annual CAMP QUALITY picnic on Bribie Island which is hosted by Bribie Island Lions Club and support by several Lions Clubs. We had the sausages sizzling and a great day was had by all. Good to see the children with cancer or in remission and families have a day out to laugh and play.
Riding for the disable at Cartmill, Burpengary had our support again this year. We sponsored half a horse, not sure which half, but regular cooking duties for these children, their families and the many volunteers once a month on a Saturday id always enjoyable.
The Beachmere and District Mens Shed progressed further this year. It is pleasing to see that at last our community has a meeting place for men. The BDMS has some 40 members to date. The meetings are held at the Activity Centre in Biggs Avenue each month. The Shed is maturing as an organization and many new friendships have been blossomed over the past two years. The support in the Community has been well received for this Lions Project.

We supported number of men in their quest for a Mens Shed in BEACHMERE. This year our ongoing support will see the errection and fit out of a building for the Mens Shed. So for Beachmere shed happens

The Club's ongoing support of local children through the local State School continues. We purchased a special readering machine to ensure one student was able to fully participate in learning.
