We’re spotlighting Erin Robbin’s, newly appointed Secretary with Beaufort Fire Brigade.
Get to know one of the dedicated members who serves our community!

1. How long have you been serving with Beaufort Fire Brigade?🚨
Just over 2 years

2. What inspired you to become a firefighter or member?🚨
I've always wanted to be a part of the CFA in some way. I grew up down the street from one of the Geelong West firefighters, Matthew, who lost their life in Linton - that really left a mark on me knowing how incrediblely dedicated our CFA members are.
My husband, kids and I moved to Beaufort at the beginning of 2023 - when the Bayindeen Fire came through in 2024, it really gave me the push I needed to finally join.

3. What is your favorite part of the role?🚨
Meeting all the amazing and dedicated people in our town that are part of the CFA!
Also love doing all the community awareness programs such as the Bunnings BBQs, Beaufort show and open days.

4. What does serving our community mean to you?🚨
It means stepping up when you're needed rather than sitting on the sidelines - helping neighbours and getting out of your comfort zone.
I’ve always had massive respect for CFA volunteers but didn't know how to help in a non firefighter capacity.
What I've learnt since joining is that there is so much more involved with the CFA than just fighting fires - that being a brigade member can be just as rewarding - and you can give as much time as you can spare!

5. What training courses have you completed that you're most proud of?🚨
Ive done first aid and CPR which I enjoyed and completed with other brigades that surround Beaufort. I also completed training to help with delivering food to firefighters on the frontline - a job I didn't realise existed!

6. What is one fun fact about yourself? 🚨
I co hosted a radio show on Geelong's community radio station with my best friend. We showcased Australian music and thought we were hilarious (so did our mum's who might have been the only ones listening!)

Get to know one of the dedicated members who serves our community!

1. How long have you been serving with Beaufort Fire Brigade? 🚨
I have been a member of Beaufort Fire Brigade since 2022 and have enjoyed being part of a dedicated team serving our local community

2. What inspired you to become a firefighter or member?🚨
I wanted to help and support my community when people need it most. CFA also runs in my family, my dad was a member of Smeaton Fire Brigade, and my stepdad is a member of Beaufort Fire Brigade, so their involvement inspired me to join.

3. What is your favourite part of the role?🚨
My favourite part of the role is helping people in times of need and working alongside a great team. The teamwork within the brigade make the role very rewarding.

4. What does serving our community mean to you? 🚨
Serving our community means being there to support people during challenging times and doing what I can to help keep our community safe.

5. What training courses have you completed that you're most proud of? 🚨
The internal firefighting course (Respond to Urban) is the training achievement I am most proud of. It was something I never thought I would be able to do, so completing it was a significant personal accomplishment.

6. What is one fun fact about yourself?🚨
Outside of the CFA, I work as a wellbeing practitioner at a high school and worked in the youth mental health sector for several years. Also, running is a big part of my life and I completed the Ballarat Half Marathon recently.

How long have you been serving with Beaufort Fire Brigade? 🚨
I have been serving the Beaufort brigade for about 6 years now and prior to that I was a member of the Jung brigade for about 7 years.

What inspired you to become a firefighter or member? 🚨
Growing up in western Victoria, fire was something that we lived with every year so I have always had an interest in firefighting and volunteering. before joining CFA I volunteered with the Horsham SES for 5 years and worked with Forest Fire Management for 2 seasons and really enjoyed the challenge of the work so I decided to join the CFA to continue giving back to my community and it’s been an absolutely amazing journey.

What is your favorite part of the role? 🚨
I love the challenge, diversity and the teamwork within the role. It’s truly amazing to be part of such an amazing team of people who give up everything to help there community when the pager goes off.
I have been privileged enough to go on several interstate deployments representing the CFA and being able to give back and help communities in times of need is a privilege and definitely my favourite part of the job.

What does serving our community mean to you? 🚨
For me serving my community is being there whenever needed, being able to help our communities both locally and further abroad. Most of the time when people call 000 and need us, it’s because they are in trouble or they need help and it’s a privilege to be able to serve our community in such a way and with an amazing team.

What training courses have you completed that you're most proud of? 🚨
Complimenting my Internal firefighting qualification and completing the fire line leadership course are 2 courses that I’m very proud of but have been very lucky to understand quite a lot of nationally recognised training with the CFA.

What is one fun fact about yourself? 🚨
Well outside of CFA and volunteering I run my own garden maintenance and landscaping business, I have a 5 year old son who loves fire trucks and pretending to be a firefighter putting out imaginary fires.

Get to know one of the dedicated members who serves our community!

1. How long have you been serving with Beaufort Fire Brigade? 🚨
I have been serving with the Beaufort Fire Brigade since January 2023. Prior to this, I spent many years with the Skipton Fire Brigade, bringing my total service with CFA to over 20 years.

2. What inspired you to become a firefighter or member? 🚨
My journey began as a junior member with Skipton in 2004, where I competed in JRN competitions. Growing up in a community where the brigade plays such a vital role, I was strongly influenced by my father, who was heavily involved in community services, including CFA and as an Ambulance Community Officer. For me, it has always been about giving back and supporting the local community.

3. What is your favorite part of the role? 🚨
The variety within the role is something I really value, from travelling interstate and gaining nationally recognised qualifications, to experiencing things I wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to do. While helping the community is incredibly important, the highlight has to be getting on the red truck and fighting fires.

4. What does serving our community mean to you? 🚨
Serving the community means being someone people can rely on in times of need. Through CFA, it’s about protecting lives and property. More broadly, it’s about stepping up and lending a hand wherever it’s needed to achieve the best possible outcomes for those in need.

5. What training courses have you completed that you're most proud of? 🚨
I’ve completed a range of training with CFA, including Internal Structural Firefighting, nationally recognised Chainsaw Operations, Crew Leader, and First Aid qualifications. I was also fortunate to be supported by CFA to receive a Victorian Heavy Rigid Truck Licence,

6. What is one fun fact about yourself? 🚨
Outside of CFA, I work in health and have held roles including Pool Lifeguard, Ambulance Community Officer, Patient Transport Officer, and Registered Nurse. I’m also involved in community volunteering with Apex, fundraising through events like the CFA Stair Climb, and running BBQs, all while involving my family, including an up-and-coming CFA volunteer currently at JRN level.
