From my new position in Western Australia. So good to be back in my spiritual home where so many positive things are happening for the ocean. We are truly blessed 🙂

Choosing fish that are sustainably caught and reducing our use of plastics are two ways we can help protect and restore our blue planet on World Oceans Day tomorrow (June 8) according to marine scientist Dr Chris Thompson.

Coral spawning is an annual event, which typically occurs following the March full moon, after corals are stimulated by the seasonal rise in water temperatures.
But this year reduced O2 levels were exacerbated by heatwave conditions 🙁

Locals get to work cleaning an estimated 16,000 dead fish from beaches on Western Australia's Ningaloo coastline, after the state's largest fish kill in more than a decade.

About time!!!

BREAKING NEWS: 175 nations have just endorsed a historic resolution to begin the creation of a global treaty to end plastic pollution, at the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi last night.

Described as "the most significant environmental multilateral deal since the Paris accord", the proposed treaty will cover the entire lifecycle of plastic, from what kinds of products can be produced, how countries manage waste and recycling, to binding global targets and dedicated funding to reduce plastic pollution.

The negotiating committee has been given the ambitious tasks of delivering a final agreement by the end of 2024. With plastic in the ocean projected to triple by 2040, there is no time to waste.

Australia must take a leading role in the negotiations, supporting pollution reduction targets and global plastics policies that are both ambitious and binding.
