YEAR 12 SILENT DISCO || Our Year 12 students turned up the volume without making a sound! During GOAL, students hit the dance floor for a silent disco, choosing their tunes, donning their headphones and enjoying plenty of music, dancing and good vibes with their classmates.

Another fun opportunity for our Class of 2026 to make memories together as they head into the final stretch of Year 12!

WEAR IT PURPLE DAY || Today, our college community came together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day and recognise the importance of diversity, inclusion and belonging. During GOAL, students learnt more about Wear It Purple Day and created purple gratitude cards, sharing messages of gratitude and appreciation for members of our school community. At lunchtime, our Beauy Pride Club hosted purple chalk drawing outside, adding a splash of purple to the college.

Gold coin donations also raised funds for Minus18, helping support LGBTQIA+ young people across Australia.

Thank you to our Beauy Pride Club for supporting this wonderful initiative, and to all students and staff who embraced the day. It was fantastic to see our GOAL program providing another opportunity for students to come together and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive school community.

ELECTRO REGIONAL COMPETITION || Milo and Josh, Year 11 VET students, put their electrical skills to the test this week at the WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition at Holmesglen Moorabbin, where they also attend their weekly VET classes.

The competition saw students complete a series of practical and theory-based challenges, including electrical circuits, fixing and securing and circuit recognition.

A fantastic opportunity for the boys to showcase their skills, gain valuable industry experience and challenge themselves alongside other students developing their skills in the electrical industry. Well done, Milo and Josh!

BAYSIDE WELLBEING NETWORK || Beaumaris Secondary College was pleased to host the Bayside Wellbeing Network Meeting today at the MCC Pavilion, bringing together educators, wellbeing teams and local service providers to connect, collaborate and explore ways to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people.

The network heard from four service providers – Poppy Support Services, Headstart Australia, Simply Concordia and A Path To Follow – who shared insights into their work supporting young people, including confidence and independence building, tailored mental health and wellbeing support and the real value of music therapy in a school-based setting.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this valuable opportunity to strengthen connections between our local schools and community services.

HAPPY AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL LIBRARY DAY! || Today we’re celebrating our wonderful library and Library Manager, Niamh McPhelimy. From our extensive, curated collection of books that students can enjoy during session breaks, lunchtime and silent reading classes to the regular book reviews Niamh shares in our fortnightly newsletter, our library plays an important role in fostering a love of reading across our college.

This year’s theme, School Libraries: The Best Investment, is a fitting reminder of the value a great school library brings to our students. Thank you, Niamh, for everything you do to make our library such a vibrant part of BSC!
