👓 A message from the Birdsville Primary Health Centre

The RFDS optometrist will be visiting Birdsville on Wednesday 26 August 2026.

No referral is required, and appointments are bulk billed for all patients. People with diabetes are encouraged to have a visual assessment, and eligible health care card and pension card holders may receive glasses at no cost.

More homes on the way for the Diamantina Shire! 🏡🏡🏡
Building more homes starts with making sure the infrastructure that communities need to grow is ready to go.

Through the Residential Activation Fund, the Queensland Government is helping unlock the infrastructure needed to support more than 100,000 future homes across the state.

Here in the Diamantina, that funding is supporting Bedourie Subdivision, which is helping prepare land and local services so more homes can be built sooner.

As our community grows, projects like this help create more opportunities for people to find a place to call home close to family, work, schools and the things that matter most.

Every future front door starts somewhere and in Bedourie, that work is underway.

Diamantina Shire is exploring options to improve accessible amenities that could better support people with disability, families, carers and visitors at major events and key community locations.

Our Shire is proud to welcome visitors through iconic outback events and community gatherings, thanks to the work of local organisers, volunteers and community groups. Now we want to hear from the people who know our events and places best.

If you organise events, support community groups, work with families or carers, or have lived experience of disability, please complete our short survey. It takes 3 to 5 minutes of your time.

Your feedback will help identify where accessible amenities are most needed, how they could improve inclusion and participation, and how they may also support the long-term sustainability of events in remote communities.
